I couldn't figure out why my garage started to smell bad so I took everything out and pressured washed and cleaned everything and pulled the cars back in. The smell got worse. This is quite possibly the most digusting smell I have ever encountered. I started sniffing around and noticed that it was coming from under the hood of my X5. When I opened the hood I found that mice had deposited more then half of a 40lb bag of dog food in every crevice.

Long story short: Took it to BMW who had to end up taking the front bumper off the car and mega other stuff apart and over $1,000 later and it still stinks. The food rotted and cooked and got wet and repeated this process over 7 - 10 days.

The mice moved to my 355's engine compartment. Luckily I got a handle on it before any damage was done there. Calling in the insurance company now. If it doesn't go away it is getting traded in.

This reminds me of Seinfeld's BO problem on his BMW 5er, haha :) All kidding aside, it sucks that it happened and was discovered when it's pretty impossible to reverse it. What kind of X5 do you have? If not the 4.8, maybe you could get that? :)
