I have been remodeling the garage that is attached to the house. While doing so I had moved my Ferrari into a temporary storage spot for a couple of days. Upon bring the car back home I noticed that there were some "chewings" on the rubber gasket of the engine cover. Well I put a mouse trap in the trunk last night and well...my fears came true...I caught the little sucker...now I am worried about how many more may be there!

It is that time of year...it's getting cooler and the mice will be coming indoors....keep your eyes open

    Just an FYI

Bait suggestion: dry (ie, uncooked) macaroni -- just put a piece on the body of the trap close to the trip lever. No mess and it's reusable!

In one night rats got the coolant hoses on two cars AND the discharge hose for the washing machine.
This was in my neighbors garage, not mine I am relieved to say.

    Two points:

Lens, my beater car a 92 Sentra SE-R sat outside and was destroyed by some animals- squirrels, rats??. Bought a 91 SE-R one year ago to replace it and placed a tray of moth balls underneath it and no problems in 1 year!

In my Ferrari garage I have mouse poison (Decon, I believe), and havent seen a mouse in a year,

I keep three trays of Decon around my garage and have to refresh them every three to six months! I have two cats, but they cannot get into the garage, but the mice and rats can, as it doesn't take much of an opening for them to squeeze through.

Last year the little suckers ate the fuel injection distributor in the chevy. the mechannic was surprised that we were able to drive it down to the dealership to get it fixed. It only cost $150 buck a rooneys. They little suckers also got into the MG. There was no damage there, but they started to chew on the fuel line. I manage to get them out of there before they could do any real damage. This year I'm worried about the Ferrari. I intend to set extra taps and lots of defcon. In a word, I'll be going to defcon one this week on this problem.

I have found that the best thing for the traps is peanut butter. For some reason mice and rats love it. They can't steal it like cheese or some other solid food. The mice have to sit there and lick it off. It has never failed me. I put the trap down and usually works quickly. However if you have a rat problem the best thing to kill the rats fast is a product called havoc. It comes in a pouch and kills in one eating. Please keep this stuff away from animals and kids. This is super-strong stuff.

Rats are real pain and I have had experienced them chewing wires in my other cars before. However, here we have local type of herbs which has quite a strong odour that acts as repellent to keep them away. So I put some on 4 trays sitting underneath each wheelarch and they make wonders!

Its all I can do to keep the critters from gnawing through the wires to my outdoor speakers, but I've been using traps baited with peanut butter and moth ball disks in the front and rear trunks and passenger compartment. I've noticed a litle nibbling on the front driver's floor mat, so I guess they're heading indoors for the winter...

I live in a very wooded area and had a problem with mice and baby squirrals getting into the garage during construction. I had my car stored during this time, but was concerned about what would happen when i brought the car home. My wife placed 2 fake owls outside the garage door and since that time i have never had a problem.

    Funny mouse story...

I bought a brand new exhaust system for my old Supra and kept it laying on the garage floor as a spare for when I'd eventually need it. Finally had it installed like a year later, and as soon as I started the car up to pull out of the mechanic's garage... a ton of fiber insulation and assorted sundries flew out of the tip. The look on my mechanic's face was priceless.

I guess the mice in my parents garage thought they found their own Japanese habi-trail system. Damn muffler smoked (like a fire was inside) for a couple days!

Knock on wood, I havent found any mice in my own garage... yet.
