In short: headed up to Lime Rock today with the Rennlist-ers, Greg G, Eric, and Arrwin in the Bentley- the weather couldn't've been better. Had a great time! Drove for 4+ hours with no problems whatsoever... Dropped off the Bentley in Westchester, picked up the Acura MDX to bring to the city- got off the FDR at 34th and drove behind the NYU hospital to grab my navigation system from my brother by cutting through 29th to 1st- and laying in the middle of the street on the double yellow line was what appeared to be a couple of trash bags.. I didn't think anything of it and narrowly missed it (2-4 inches). We got caught at the light on 1st Ave- I looked behind me, and it was A ****ING PERSON laying in the street, LAYING DOWN IN TRAFFIC !! I came within inches of crushing him with a two ton truck ! I guess someone else notified the police as they arrived just as the light was turning green..

    Just venting. Be careful.

Sucks to hear that, any more details than just a ****ING person? What type of individual would do this? Seem kinda suicidal if the person just layed there.

Didn't get a great look at him- but he seemed homeless

Should of concluded that from the trash bags statement. I'm thinking either he wanted to go out quickly by hiding behind his bags or wanted the police to send him to jail. But that's not really in the rule book, so who knows what the man was thinking.

*EDIT* Can't say I've heard of this before, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

There's a big difference between a pothole, a shredded tire, a shopping bag, and a PERSON... Not something you see everyday.

Actually Ive seen this before K... grown people protesting by laying in the middle of a busy NYC street.

I dont even want to think what you wldve dealt with if you clipped him. Be safe out there.

Great running with you today. I blasted home with the Gumball GT3 and his black Boxter friend... well up til a buck twenty on 684... then I gave up LOL.

Jesus... Glad you didn't hit him, Kenny. I can understand how you'd be freaked.

Not the best driving day, this was, it seems.

I have heard stories before of this also and sometimes you cannot avoid them. I remember one such incident on a dark road way on a blind turn where cars repeatly hit a body in the roadway which was unavoidable.

Had a friend years ago that slammed into someone late at night on a highway in Brooklyn. The accident was, apparently, unavoidable- person was walking on the road, virtually invisible until the last second. To add to my friend's chagrin, it appeared that the person he killed was a woman. Once the ME arrived, it was quickly concluded that the victim was actually a guy, dressed as a lady. Obviously, there was more to this story than meets the eye, if you get what I mean. Not that I have anything against transvestites....
