I think Williams win's for the best launch site for their car. It's seeing 3d modeling and specs like that that makes me want to be a mechanical engineer.
That's for sure. When I heard Toyota was going to be their supplier for 07, I wondered "Damn, can't they do better then that?" Boy how the great ones fall, from being the class of the field for nearly a decade, to being a lower mid-pack team.
Don't be so sure yet. The Toyota engine was actually quite powerful in V-10 form. Now that they have a year of experience with the new V-8 formula, they could be one of the better lumps again. With the Toyota team, it was always the chassis that was the big let down.
Right, but Toyota woln't supply Williams with engines as good as the factory teams'. Same thing Ferrari did with Red Bull last year.
Actually they will. It's stipulated in the contract and both Toyota and Williams have said they'll be sharing the same units. Toyota's position is if they can't beat them with the same engine then we don't deserve to win. Don't think it isn't a quid pro quo though. I'm sure Williams will be giving up some information on chassis development to help Toyota out. Also having two extra cars running the same engine will help double Toyota's engine development. *edit* Here's the link to the story: http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=28789
Williams is my favorite team now for the last couple of seasons. I cant help but to root for the underdog. Teaming with Toyota is terrific as they have the proper motivation and support. I was thrilled after Nico's performance in the first race of last year with the Cosworth. Too bad the others caught and passed their engine program so quickly. Get em Frank !
+1. I'm a Toyota fan (The Gurney Eagle IMSA-GTP cars are some of my favorite race cars ever) and having Williams with a Toyota is even better! I'll be pulling for Nico as well this year.
