Let's see would have to be someone who has succesfully tread his way up from the school of hard knocks to lead a major organisation; who can inspire people to share his vision; who is single minded; who is not afraid to stand up to any adversary; and most importantly can make both defeat and victory look like victory! How about Kim Jong-il?
Very well written piece from Planet F1: You only had to see Ron's pained expression during his post-race interview on ITV to realise that McLaren had been badly beaten this weekend despite one of their drivers actually winning the race. Unable to collect any points due to the qualifying rumpus, Dennis was also unable to take any consolation from Lewis' tainted victory. He looked crushed. Although the British press have absolved 'our Lewis' of all blame, Hamilton's conduct on Saturday must have particularly hurt Dennis. After ten years of schooling in the McLaren ethos of putting the team first and foremost, it was Dennis' protégé who disregarded the direct order of his team boss, setting in motion a dismal train of events that ended at 11pm that night with the stewards effectively branding the team liars. For Ron, this must have been the ultimate betrayal. If Lewis wasn't prepared to play fair, then how could Fernando? And as a man who prides himself on both his personal and organisation's integrity, the stewards' ruling will have been deeply wounding. Nor will his mood have been brightened by Hamilton's request that he "go f**king swivel". It was that advice, and not Alonso's tardy exit from his pit-stop, that prompted Dennis to throw down his headset in disgust at the end of qualifying. The youngster is deluding himself if he believes that "something as small as this is definitely not going to affect our relationship". In hindsight, this may be regarded as a seismic weekend in the history of McLaren in three respects. First, it has probably damaged Alonso and Hamilton's relationship to such an extent that Fernando will prefer to take a year out of the sport than continue at McLaren. Second, events in Budapest shattered the illusion that the team can come first in F1 - the very principle on which McLaren is founded. "I really want everybody at McLaren to share the responsibility of being part of this team," Dennis declared last year. "I also think it is very important for all of us to realise that McLaren was there before we arrived and will be there after we've gone. We're simply custodians of the company, writing our own chapter in its history." It is a laudable ethos yet one which crumbled during the era of Senna v Prost - rather than Senna and Prost - and again on Saturday when two drivers fell into the temptation of driving for a World Championship rather than for the McLaren team. It is ironic that they were both permitted to collect World Championship points and McLaren were not because the qualifying debacle was caused by Alonso and Hamilton prioritising individual ambition over team glory. Third, it may hasten the retirement of its chairman, CEO and founder member. Dennis turned 60 in June and could not disguise his exhaustion at Budapest. Over the next few weeks, he could be forgiven for concluding that if winning provides so little relief then he might as well step out of the firing line. It is an open secret that Martin Whitmarsh has been groomed as his successor and that he has already assumed many of Dennis' day-to-day responsibilities. "Martin has spent the last 10 years trying to convince me to retire," he told the Guardian in January. "Most people's perception of retirement is that you stop working. My perception is completely different. It's just a systematic back-off. It will be a slow process of disengagement but not a switch. I don't want to quit as a loser." Perversely, at the end of 2007 it may be the bitter taste of victory which causes him to quit as a winner.
My guess is a good friend of Ron Dennis in the McL organization ... or maybe this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Jong-il
Lucifer cannot be replaced, he is as low as you can go, and if I read integrity one more time associated with him I'll vomit
The best thing McLaren could do is demote LH to a test driver role for the rest of the season. That will remind him that the team comes first ... and RON is his friggin boss. Fancy telling your boss to fnck off!!!, little prick. McLaren will still win the WDC with Alonso (a much happier Alonso too), and LH will get the necessary maturing that the 10 years over training has not given him. Sorry guys always said this dropping a kid in a top team was wrong. Like all near teenages he thinks he is fncken god, and like all teenages thinks that is because of HIM ... er, not. Trying winning another race LH driving a Honda for example! Pete
I dont know where you get all this hate for Lewis. He is a good driver and he happened to be in the right place at the right time. He is not phoney and is very genuine when he smiles. He is polite and keeps his cool. Nothing has gone to his head. Alonshole is the complete opposite. He is the one who thinks he is God. Lewis lost it a little this weekend but with all the crap that is coming his way from Alonshole, can you blame him. Hes good and will problabley be great one day very soon. Get used to it as he is a very likeable guy and a big plus for the sport. Just on the wrong team.
Mate, you have got it sooooooo wrong. That is his public "trained" face . Even Ron Dennis has publically stated the LH STARTED the problems at McLaren this weekend. See an earlier post in this thread witten by a British journalist who admits that LH is a problem at McLaren, and told Ron to "fnck off". Pete
You are hearing what Lucifer is telling everyone. The problem at the McCheater team is that there is a 3 way battle there. Ron wants to control everything right or wrong and the problem is that he wants to be bigger than both drivers. That is why he is telling Lewis to let by Alonshole and in the mean time he sends Alonshole out on the hard rubber. Ron is playing mind games with both his drivers and causing them to fight. It amazes me how Alonshole can say or do something stupid every race weekend and sometimes inbetween and Lewis has one momentary indiscretion and he is the source and cause of all problems. Please give us all a break.
Hmmm, not sure what to say here because you obviously do not understand the concept of a team, and how telling your boss to fnck off does not work. The only thing Alonso has done wrong before this is "talk his mind", he always has. Alonso should not have reacted to LH's mind games but he did and that is a shame, but if you cannot understand how disobeying a team order, a team that has financed you all the way to where you are AND giving you a competitive car that is MAKING you look good, then well there is no need to have this discussion. Anyway, it will sort itself out in the wash. LH will find himself unemployed in F1 as everybody knows its the car that is making him look so good (as we all know that 98% of anybodies performance is the car nowadays anyway ... the last 2% I admit he has been doing well, but ...), and not being a team player ... Best Pete
so am I , Pete may be onto something we weren't listening to (well I never listen to Kiwis ) yes LH seemed like a breath of fresh air but there is no way you talk to your boss like that and expect to stay in the golden role As Philnothill says, "couldn't happen to nicer people" spooky reference to Damien, was thinking the same thing
Reports that Lewis and Alonshole both leaving at the end of this season. Dennis the Menace must be fit to be tied. Talking about honoring contracts. You gotta love it. Forza Ferrari
Same here! If this weekend's episode did anything, it exposed the fact that Mr. Integrity ("If I say so myself") will lie in the face of evidence to the contrary. Unfortunately for him the stewards had the guts to call him a liar. This will not bode well for his spy scandal appeal. Plus, the Spanish representatives will be in no mood to defend him, especially if the recommendation is to strip the team of WCC points!
Well Alonshole has been speaking his mind allright and maybe many have forgotten what he has said about the team and their being british and Lewis and so on and so on. So now for the first time Lewis speaks his mind and OH NO! We on here would all like to tell ron where to go but the guy who is getting screwed over by him cant? If you think that Lewis is 98% car then what the bejesus is wrong with Alonshole? Lewis also had writen in his contract that if he was leading the WDC by a certain race the he would see millions more above the $300,000 he is now making. Maybe Ron dosnt want to see that happen and that could explain what happened this past weekend. Yes I would tell my Boss where to go too if he tried to pull one over on me like that.
Please go and have a look at the F1 sites, LH has admitted that he did wrong and HAS appologised to the team. To late now, he's pissed his boss and the team. BTW 355: LH is ONLY leading the WDC because of McLaren not despite McLaren ... so who should be getting that raise? He most definitely would not be leading the WDC in a Honda at the moment. Infact Honda, or any other team, would not have nutured him for the last 10 years. I think he should get down on his knees and kiss Ron's arse for the next couple of years before playing games like this. Without Ron, LH was a nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How quick he has forgotten his helpers. So yes his head has exploded! Pete
