Do you watch races live, or record them and watch them at a more reasonable hour? I tape them............there's no way I can wake up that early on a Sunday.
I tape every race no mather what. I get up every sunday at 6:30am to watch GP2 and Formula 1 right after. If the F1 race is full of actions ....I re-watch the race during the week. (like Imola 2005)
I don't have Speed channel, so I have to catch them when they're on CBS. I would be willing to pay someone to tape them and send me the tapes.
Its a ritual. Open and decant a bottle of Bordeaux, turn on the amps, go to bed, get up, grab the newspaper, pour a glass of wine....."turn it up for the start of the Grand Prix of......!!!!" DMAX
Live exclusively. If you live on the West Coast you understand the dedication this takes. Split sleep segments.
LIVE ALWAYS - it doesn't matter where there are and which time zone they are in - the alarm is set if necessary and eyes are afixed to the tv. In fact often times I get up early and "watch" practices in the wee hours of the morning on the computer before anything thinks about being on tv. We also make at least 3 or more weekends of the F1 races during the course of the season "live" at the race venues. Carol
Live for myself but i tend to get up around 4:30 in the morning on the West coast to begin with so it is nothing out of the norm for myself.
I'm always awake...no matter what... but I'm working on board a cruise ship so i watch the races on the net live feed from New Zealand...
Live except for the ones from Asia where I set the VCR. But I shouldn't really bother: Normally I can't sleep those nights anyway because I get too nervous about having not set the VCR correctly and about what's going on in the race itself. I should just bite the bullet and stay up. On a side note: While living in Europe Sundays were "holy" and the time blocked out for the race. Now that I live in the States I enjoy getting the GP out of the way by 10am and have the rest of the day for other things.
To be honest I haven't watched a race since Barcelona GP of 2003... Its all just becoming boring now... no skilled drivers, everyone is young, too many rules... There isn't any thrill like there was back in the late 80s-early 90s. Before I'd attend the monte carlo gp every yr, as well as imola and monza... I went to spa in 2001, but thats the last gp i went to. I didn't even go to monte carlo's this yr. its not eventful enough anymore for me to even watch it on tv. I did see part of the Imola GP this yr where Alonzo beat Schumacher....
Live as much as I can. However, that means fighting with my 3 and 5 year olds at 7:30 AM on switching between Speed TV,Nick JR, Disney station or PBS (OK sweetie, just one more minute and I'll switch back to Dora the Explorer)! I almost always miss any of the 12:30 PM replays as I am always doing some project around the house or out with the kids. I liked it better last year when speed TV replayed all races Sunday night at 9:30 PM. The kids were in bed and I had a peaceful time watching it. Theo
TIVO. Its the best thing to happen to TV since color. I just start watching about 30 minutes after the race starts so I don't have to watch any commercials.
I record practice and qualifying as well - just so I don't have to endure the commercials, but the race - ALWAYS LIVE!
Live, always. The GPs in America/Canada are the irritating ones because I have to stay up late or get up at ungodly hours.
I'm just getting home from work at race start time so i usually miss the start but i catch as much as possible live. I usually tape it too in case i miss anything and for something to watch during the off season.
Till this year I used to watch races always live. But the last couple races have been Tivo record - have been out of home for several weekends
The European races are televised between 10:30-11pm on a Sunday night so I just stay up and watch them. The killers are the US and Canadian GPs; telecast starts usually at 2:45 or 3:45 and run until 6am. Those are the ones I tape, unless I have holidays.
