I've searched and the posts I found were back in 2010. Is it still possible to watch either live or replays via a PC?. I'm asking for my father as he has been watching via my sisters TV for years and she is moving. She has Foxtel or whatever it is called in New Zealand.

    Thanks
    Pete

    Is he willing to pay?

Or is an "illegal" feed OK?

    ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Cheap as possible, as long as men in black and helicopters do not land on my parents front lawn :D

Cost is I believe the reason why he does not have Sky TV (maybe I should buy it as an early birthday present ... hmmm, I'll think about that! ... it's $26.34 per month for sport only).

But vipbox.tv looks good ... and as he is retired maybe it's not an issue to watch them live. Big thanks!

    :D

    Totally understood!

Many folk continue to believe it's somehow their birthright to get a live Bernie feed.....

    [Aside; cricket should of course be a birthright. Sky got that M/f'er too ;)] Anyway;

For sure, vipbox has served many of us (me included! ;) ) very well over the seasons.

But, beyond the challenge of "sticking it to the man", these days I'd rather just pay for "premium" coverage.... Best I can do right now is a VPN/contacts in the UK......

There *must* be a better model! (?)

    Cheers,
    Ian

NZ doesn't get it free to air like we do here?? No wonder so many of them are moving over here :)

i never did get a chance to try out your proxy-BBC idea last season, my internet provider was throttling service badly, but maybe this year i should, if that's still a viable & reliable way to go?

You have to pay to play in most major Sports here. Sky has Cricket, Rugby, League, AFL, all the US sports, F1 etc.

i've found is best to have at minimum a hi-speed internet line for buffering reasons, and when you open the link you choose, let it sit & all the ads finish popping up first, the ones in front of the view window, hover mouse over those and X will appear in upper right, that's the real close X, the other is linked to another tab pop up, with that it plays through well
if it does stop (viewer go black) just go back to main menu and redo, sometimes the channel gets interupted

Nothing to do with any VPN though.....

I guess I'm about to find out! :) I'll report back.

    [Hijack]

How about the America's Cup? Free to air, or pay?

Round here, as the home team, it's starting to gain traction.

    On subscription TV :(

I'll tell you on Friday when I test it out

It's a shame the BBC only shows half the races because they seemed to have upgraded all their streaming gear for the Olympics and it's really easy to get around the Geo-IP restrictions with Proxy/VPN/TORS. The stream quality last year was excellent :)

This year they will be showing 9 races live starting with China GP.

SKY streaming requires you to have an account with them so it gets a tad tricky and expensive.

Vipsportsbox.eu / Vipbox.tv Motorsports - Spin Those Wheels - Free Formula 1 & MotoGP Streaming Online - Formula 1 BBC Streaming this is the site to visit for most race streams but as you can imagine not exactly on the "legal" side so expect streams to die mid race and quality varies from session to session.

I guess it's better than nothing.

Ch10 also provides live streams for qual/race tho the quality is below par.

NBC will be showing the F1 in the states this year so we might be able to use them as an alternative which again would mean using VPN/TORS to get around any geo restrictions.

If you are only interested in replays then you can find torrents for all sessions usually 3-4hrs after the event has finished. Which include 720p goodness :)

    +1

*That's* what I find so frustrating! I can't pay for it even if I wanted to! WTF?

It seems they're really pushing the boat out in the UK, and that's great. There should be a "legitimate" way to subscribe, regardless of geo/ip.

I've been saying for years, the model is broken, but I can't come up with another. :(

    Cheers,
    Ian

    :D

According to many here, their coverage is gonna *suck*! ;)

Maybe we should go "offline", but surely "we" want to find (& feed?) a commercial free version......

Wow! I didn't know (& almost missed ;)) that little tidbit!

Do you know if they're also streaming 'em (live?) via their "iPlayer" app?

    Cheers,

kraftwerk would know if they offer it via iplayer I usually visit the motorsport site which has an embedded feed

In the past American coverage has been sub-par compared to the UK but I'm hoping with the change of network things will improve. Wait n see

You can't just buy the world feed legally?

I have a VPN. No way to work this? Willing to pay.

    No sir!.... Crazy, Huh?

I'm basically in the same boat, but do have the requisite 'connections' in the UK.....

I don't remember now how exactly I got the BBC's Iplayer, but with a UK VPN I think you can get that without a UK iTunes account (?). Given that, I believe they at least stream 'their' races live(?)

I thought they also made the Sky races available for a week or so a few days late but apparently not.

    Cheers,
    It

    :) Pretty much!......

Although, there's nothing illegal about a VPN - What we're using it for may be a little "sketchy", but that's "their" problem - Try and enforce geo/ip restrictions on us and we'll find another way.

FWIW, a "worldwide, computer only" subscription must be coming "soon", surely? I know I could do it - You pays the money and get a certificate (etc) that allows you to decode the stream. Not hard to do.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Do you have a link? I see the qualifying and race highlights broadcasts, but not the live stream. Thanks.

Scroll up a little to krafty list. The BBC is only showing 9 races live this season. China will be the 1st GP they will show live.
