About a week ago I drove my 99 550 in very heavy rain for several hours. This morning my wife and I took a drive -- as I made a hard left, water gushed from under the dashboard onto her legs. It was a considerable amount of water and continued each time I made a sharp left. Any thoughts gentlemen? Thank you. Frank

Not sure I buy the ac thing. There is a leak to the out side on all 550s. It is known that the passenger ecu can get wet and electrical problems come next. I would open the kick panel on the passenger side and take a look and remove the ecu and inspect the pins for corrosion. There is no real solution for this issue except to shield the ecu and the wire bundle that feeds it and wicks water into the ecu.

FBB- That is what the problem has been in dozens of cases. Driving in heavy rain tends throw stuff up under the car and that can easily block the drain tube/hose.

Easy check see if water from ac drains on ground. Pull kickpanel see if water evidence there. You could have both problems. One reason I'm positive on gold connector kit at the ecu even on virgin 550 ecus is because water here is a known problem. Look for white corrosion on the bottom pins on the ecu.

Will be looking at the problem tomorrow and let you know what I find. Thank you for the advice and guidance. Heckuva lot of water coming from a location up and to the right of the vent on passenger tunnel. And when you mention 'kick panel,' do you mean the foot board? If due to a blocked a/c drain, would the water reduce the a/c's effectiveness? We've had a hot weekend in CT and my a/c has been useless -- last year it was as cold as ice. Regards, Frank

There are vents where you speak and the others sound right it could be ac. But still I think the passenger kick panel that hides the ecu should be checked on cars driven in the rain. It is well known to have leaks here. And if not now perhaps in the past. Unplugging the ecu and inspecting will let you know if you have that issue. Many 550s have.

Wanted to update you on my dashboard geyser. It was indeed the a/c drain (by the frame, on the right)-- once I cleaned it out, a flood of water and gunk followed. As also suggested, I checked my ECUs and other electricals under the dash for any corrosion or evidence of moisture -- fortunately, all clean and dry. Thank you all for your help. Regards, Frank
