lot's of wrecked cars.
For you, yes - it's a good thing... I don't think we'll have anything but a delay of cars being brought in for the usual visits...
Stayed home this morning with sick Mia, Jennie took over this afternoon. Left work 5pm heading West on 114 to Roanoke first to get Mia some medicine. Both directions were moving well and no wrecks. As I pulled off 114 and got on gas the back end gave a little and I knew it was just then on the verge of icing. Literally 5 minutes later coming out where I was on 114 West bound cars were crawling and bumper to bumper backing up. East bound was completely shut down as 4 cars were spun blocking way and cop already there. Im sure they kept it closed another hour to clear the wreck and wait for sand. I turned back into Trophy Club using one of my bike routes to get around. Just the 3 miles back on 114 to home there were another dozen spun and crunched cars on bridges.
560+ wrecks since yesterday , just proof again that there are some absolute idiots on the roads in DFW. Another great day to work from home.
Jano, Troy will be calling you, he got hit on the way to work this morning. Why he decided to go to work I have no idea.
To give the people some credit I was on the road at 5:30pm exactly when the ice was starting. Traffic was flowing well, no wrecks, no signs of any problems, and no signs there was ice forming on the bridges. People were driving cautiously, maybe 20 mph slower because it was wet and most knew it was borderline freezing. Well literally within 5 minutes it went from being able to drive 50 mph over a bridge vs. putting it in a wall at 30 mph. The 5 minutes I was in the store the first people still going over the bridge wrecked, of course once someone spins and wrecks, then everyone sees it and drives more cautious. I truly believe 75% of the wrecks are the first people over a bridge after it ices. Can't blame the people completely. Then there is the 25% that are idiots driving too fast for the conditions. Had one this morning coming to work, 114 still completely iced over and most were going 20 mph, I was going about 30 mph, but then a car comes up on me going 40 mph and doesn't keep going, but stays right in my blind spot! The absolute worse place anytime and especially when icy.
Very slick this morning on the side roads. Had a SUV coming up from behind, and I saw him do a 540, finally ending up against the curb. Lucky the guy behind got by. Any roads with side slopes were really bad.
We are getting the same storm I am up in Toronto Canada, and I can tell you that we have drivers that still, or rather shouldn't be on the road with any amount of snow or ice. Be careful.
It was pretty rough getting up the hill to our office, I tried three times with progressively worse results. Finally got wise and parked at Jim's favorite restaurant, LePeep!
