Should I fire this girl? She did our site about 5-6 yrs ago. Old tech, I understand (HTML, etc). Pay her $35/month for "maintenence". Now she says seo is useless cuz our site is ancient. Wants $1700 to redo entirely, as , she said, cant really salvage old tech site- must start from scratch.

    Is this normal, people?

    Thanks

it depends.....did your contract/agreement have a term of support service? generally a year is considered a reasonable renewal cycle, in which aged platform would be a subject discussed at that time IMO

if you're unhappy with her service, then cut the ties and move to another person......consider getting a second opinion, if the site is to aged to reasonably continue support, or if a complete re-write is needed

i'm not an IT guy, so i can't comment on specifics

Thanks, Gar. Service has been , well, no complaints, just that I dont have a ruler to measure "success" by. I like keeping people for years. I hear my site is ancient, and was kinda surprised the webmaster didnt say it before. No contracts.

Care to post the site up?

$1700 is awfully cheap. Especially if that includes design.
