    Im looking for a building platform that I can post a topic and people can login and post a short comment like twitter length. I dont know if vbulletin can do this or not is there anything else out there that will meet this need?

    Yup, definitely Wordpress. There are a lot of plug-ins that can help achieve what you want. However, depending on the amount traffic you draw to your site, a good host might be a good idea. I have done many sites with Wordpress. Let me know if you need some input.
