If you want your FICO score, that's still costs ~$6. All other info is free.

Many people stagger their requests so that they get one free every four months and establish a rolling sense of how things are going.

Did you use the same estimator....

If so..compare the 2 Reports and look for these differences...

Do you have slightly higher balances on your revolving accounts....
Do you have more inquiries in a 6 month premium...

Anyone know yet if these are 'REAL' mortgauge FICO/EMIRICA/BEACON scores, or fakes based on 'estimates' (still sorta useful, but can be off by as much as +-20points!) Almost of the online pulls are FAKES!

Equifax and TU just refused me:

And NO, I do not have any 'fraud alearts' on my report (these do not work anyway.)

Equifax was available online, very very interesting.

Equifax has been available online for years. The reason they probably rejected it and are making you do it by the phone or mail is because they probably have incorrect personal data on you...Its very common...
Equifax had my year of birth wrong for years...its finally been corrected...
Transunion refused mine when I did...but I know why....because they have my DAY of birth incorrect...they used to have it correct...anytime someone runs your info and if they goof up your DOB then the CRA updates that info with the mistake...its crazy but you wouldn't believe the amount of people that have DOB's wrong with CRA's...

BTW, I do have a Fraud Alert on my Equifax and was still able to pull it online.

The only one I EVER USE and is the true score you can expect in a bank is on www.myfico.com...its expensive because they make you pull your report in order to give the scores....but it is the exact same score lenders use...
Scorepower and all that crap is just that....crap...worthless...some of them don't even use the same scales....for instance....FICO (the one banks use) only goes up to 850...but the scoring system Transunion uses on their website goes up to 950....so everyone that uses that scoring model thinks their score is higher then it really is.
BEACON = Information from Equifax and scored using FICO's scoring model.

If you want a free scoring model try the FREE FICO ESTIMATOR used at www.bankrate.com 's website.

    TMG:

Great info in this post and your's below regarding the fake scores. I too have ONLY found www.myfico.com as the only source of real FICO scores withought haveing a broker pull hard inquiry.

I have a bunch of file variations (they used to call 'em that :) when lenders botched DOBs, etc. However all have been cleared up or so I thought! Time to look again I suppose.

I joined myfico.com and they alert me whenever my score changes. Have seen it drop twice recently and they also tell you why. First time was I opened a new bank account and they did a credit check on me, Not sure why they do that when I am giving them money. Second was I paid my step daughters college tuition with credit card to get the rewards and because my debt ratio jumped it dropped my score. Hopefully since I pay my credit cards in full it will come back up. Should think about joining myfico.com. Not a bad deal for about 10 bucks a month

Big thing is timing when paying credit cards in full every month...2 scenerios..

    CCC (Credit Card Company)
CRA (Credit Reporting Agency aka. Equifax, Experian, Transunion)

    Here's Your Hypothetical Spending.....

-CCC Reports to CRA on the 30th of the month
    -Your Credit Line is 10,000
-You charge 8,000 every month but every month you pay the balance off in full
-Your credit card due date is on the 6th

    Scenario 1

You pay your credit card in full on the 2nd of the month....on the 30th of the previous month, your CCC reports your balance of 8K to the CRA....you then charge up with your normal expenses and by the 30th of this month, your balance is 8K again, and the CCC again reports an 8K balance to the CRA

The CRA doesn't know you paying it off every month...the only see an 8K balance on a 10K limit on a revolving account....You are using 80% of your revolving account limits and that is very bad....you want to keep under 50% and ideally under 10%

    Scenario 2

You pay your credit card in full on the 29th of the month...on the 30th, your CCC reports to the CRA, a balance of $0. You then charge up 8K and on the 29th you pay your balance in full....on the 30th the CCC reports to the CRA a balance of $0....

The CRA doesn't know you are charging 80% of your limit every month...They just see every month a balance of $0 on a $10K revolving account limit...

The difference between these 2 scenerio's could make a difference of 30-40 points depending on other variables....All because you adjusted your payment schedule by 3 days...

In Canada, the more your credit is checked the lower it goes. Is that true for the US too? "If you are constantly being checked for credit it looks bad because you don't have cash to buy things" < is the reasoning I guess.

Yes, its known as an 'inquiry' here...The reason it's bad is because you are 'seeking new credit'...not because you don't have the cash to buy things. They don't care what kind of cash you have to buy whatever, only that you repay your bills on time, that you have been paying them on top for a while (established credit), and your debt to credit limit ratios are low.

We do have different types of inquiry's, One where you give permission to have it checked when applying for credit or even opening a bank account. That type will lower your score. Then they have what's called unsolicited inquiry's that is usually done by marketers just checking on you before mailing out some sort offer. Those do not affect your score.

Yes, those are called inquiries. Specifically Hard Inquiries (which are the ones you will see, from auto lenders, etc.)

These DO lower your score, but they do so on a sliding scale.

People with 740 or so credit scores do not get 'hurt' buy each individual Hard Inquiry, each pull within the last 6mos might lower a score 2 points. I suspect the reason is that successful businesspeople these days have to sign for all kinds of personal guarentee and their credit is being pulled all the time, however they may not be in a bad situation at all.

HOWEVER, a person who already has some trouble and lots of high balances with a 600 FICO score, well a single Hard Inquiry can drop their score 10 even 15-20 points for each pull!!!

Scott: the FICO monitor is nice, but it only monitors your Equifax score and credit report. I need to monitor ALL THREE CRAs and have yet to find a way to do that anymore now that PrivacyGuard has been effectively shut down.

Yeah, the only way to do that is to sign up for credit protection at each CRA's website...Kinda crazy if you ask me..

I still don't get what real FICO is, I know that MYFICO uses Equifax but their site says they are a division of The Fair Issac Corporation, which is what I understand to be the true FICO scorer. I also subscribe to https://www.identityguard.com/gs/english/index.asp
They monitor all three and I was using a few different ones and then tried an experiment to decide which one to use for good. I asked for an increase on my Credit Card and within an hour I got an Email from them alerting me to a change in my file
