FERRARI LE PLUS DUREMENT TOUCHÉ PAR LA BOP AVANT SPA Ferrari le plus durement touché par la BoP avant Spa (motorsport.com) La Ferrari 499P LMH voit son poids minimum augmenté de 12 kg et sa puissance maximale réduite de 4 kW (5 chevaux) pour les 6 Heures de Spa, troisième manche du FIA WEC 2024, qui se dérouleront ce samedi. L'ajustement de la Balance de Performance (BoP) fait suite à la performance dominante du Cheval cabré à domicile le mois dernier sur le tracé d'Imola ; une domination qui n'a toutefois pas permis de remporter la course après une double erreur tactique lorsqu'il a commencé à pleuvoir à deux heures de l'arrivée. Dans le détail, un poids minimum de 1060 kg et une puissance maximum de 506 kW (678 ch) ont été fixés pour la Ferrari. Cet ajustement est à comparer aux gains de 4 kg de la Toyota GR010 HYBRID LMH, de la Peugeot 9X8 2024 LMH et de la Porsche 963 LMDh. Toyota et Porsche ont par ailleurs perdu 1 kW en puissance maximale et Peugeot 2 kW. Toutes les Hypercars seront plus lourdes à Spa qu'à Imola, à l'exception de la Cadillac V-Series.R. La voiture américaine reste au poids le plus bas possible de 1030 kg, tout en perdant 1 kW de puissance. La BMW M Hybrid V8 et l'Alpine A424 ont gagné 3 kg, l'Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH Competizione 2 kg et la Lamborghini SC63 1 kg. Des réductions de puissance de 1 kW ont été appliquées à BMW et Alpine, tandis que Lamborghini a perdu 2kW. L'Isotta reste en revanche au maximum de 520 kW (697 ch).
Why "unbalanced" ? Because it affects Ferrari ? They explained the reason for it: "dominating performance" at Imola cut short by tactical errors. I knew that with Ferrari entering endurance, this belly-aching would start.
C’mon I was talking about Toyota either! The shifting in performance is just too big between the teams. ( Peugeot ?! ) And this is not related to the tracks layout’s only..
hopefully after wrestling defeat from the jaws of victory they will get it right this time...but with Spa weather and strategy acumen being critical ....hmmm....

It isn’t bellyaching for me. I’m just opposed to any artifice imposed to give a false advantage to any competitor, Ferrari or otherwise, in the name of “competition.”
It's the basis of the World Endurance Championship that it will try to equalise the chances of vehicles of different configurations. The ACO does that by analysing the performances of the different participants and adjusting weitght, power and fuel capacity accordingly. Yes, one can say that it's done artificially, like in any handicap system, but that what made clear in the rules from the outset, and doesn't come as a surprise. WEC is a BoP championship. It's a recipe that works very well in GT and has attracted 9 constructors in Hypercars so far. It's a success, IMO.
