Took the 348 for a spin the other day to collect some mail, collected mail and tried to start engine and my battery is flat, It has caught me out a couple of times now so with my head mechanic GG we tested the battery and found it had dropped a cell and only had 165CCA.:eek: Here are some pics of when we removed and replaced it :D
Car turns over better than ever now! :)

When replacing you car battery always disconnect your (-) negative battery terminal clamp first and also it should be the last one connected to your new battery to aviod electrical spikes ;) Same rules applies to jump starting flat batteries also :)

    Pic 1/Pic 2 : Old battery, vintage shows 04'
Pic 3: Battery hold down clamp, you need a 13mm socket and a few extensions to get that undone
Pic 4: I had to remove the battery box debris cover to get my old battery out, 2 bolts in hidden behind bumper bar and 2 bolts underneath, 10mm spanner to undo them.
Pic 5: Battery support frame, left hand rear of engine bay.
    Pic 6: Old battery details
Pic 7: Old and new battery comparison
    Pic 8: New battery details.
Pic 9/Pic 10: New battery installed

I busted the sh*tbox out from the garage yesterday for the 1st time in over 10 months. :D:D

There was ALOT of dust on the car. Needed a new $100 battery, 20L jerry can of fuel to get her started. :):)
Brake fluid also evaporated too...... I also killed 6 redback spiders that made my Fairlane home for 10 months. :)

The car burst into life after around 20 seconds of cranking. :D:D I drove the car to my brothers to wash it and replace worn idler arm and pitman arm in the steering. I ended up replacing all 4 ball joints, control arm bushes, spring saddle bushes, pitman arm, idler arm and front shocks. This took me the best part of yesterday to do. :):)

Car drives awesome now!! No rattles, squeeks or knocks. Getting wheel alignment on Monday. Will be all good then. :):)

Sell it. Some GTHO dipsh*t might think it's the next big thing and give you $100k

    :p

I was reading a magazine from 1980 this morning (still sorting my library), there was an ad from a car yard that touted a GTHO for $11,750 with the description of "great investment" and an A9X also for the same money. The yard owner was selling his personal 308 GTB for $42,000.

    hindsight, a wonderful thing.

still...there are MANY other ways in which $11k could have been invested in 1980 that today would be a fortune FAR greater than the 'value' of a GTHO

Ive had a great weekend so far. Today marks the 2nd year of my Ferrari 348 ownership, so my brother and I decided to bake a Ferrari cake last night to celebrate the occasion. We baked a cake last year also, in the shape of my 348. :):)

This year, the cake was made to duplicate the legendary Ferrari 'shield'. The cake was a double decker, triple choc cake, around A4 in size and around 10cm thick. Iced to perfection.:eek: It was very yummy. Wish I could have shared some with all of ya's. :):) So far, I am still loving every minute of Ferrari ownership. Looking forward to having another Fcar or two in the garage someday. Bring on 3yrs............................I wanna bake another Ferrari cake!:eek:
