Around 1993,maybe 1994,there was an Aussie wide Coca-cola competition where 1st prize was worth over $100K,maybe $150K worth of prizes ect... They inlcuded a "Round the world trip"that kicked off at Disneyland USA. A Harley Davidson motorcycle,and heaps and heaps of other crap. Big screen TV,home surround sound package ect...............and then this.............a Shelby Cobra replica. Thats right folks,this guy here,works at the mines,won that awesome Coke prize back then. And this is his Shelby. I remember him driving it around vaugly,when i was a kid,but no one has seen it for years and years. They thought he sold it. But thats it. Has i think 6000 miles on it. Has a 302Windsor V8,EFI. A 5 speed Supra box. Light grey leather seats and its a dark marone colour. With real lag pipes on the sides,they arent just for show on this one. Here a some pics of some mates cars. A marone Ford XB Coupe and the other is a red Ford XC Coupe. Both have 351Clevos in them. The marone one,is alot sweeter than the red one. As the owner works with me,is single,has cash and alot of free time on his hands(like me ). He has removed the engine to fully de-burr the engine block,re-located the battery in the boot,chrome stuff everywhere,top dollar interior ect,ect...... Everything,and i mean everything has been replaced on that car with genuine parts from Rare Spares($$$$ has cost him heaps,does not bother him in the least $$$$) except..........he wants a new genuine rear windscreen. I asked him whats wrong with the one in there now,he said nothing,but would like a new "old stock" rear windscreen for it. He is still searching high and low for one too. he's using "Holdon" parts to try and get some reliability into the thing Ford electrics have always turned me off ever even thinking of getting one
the square headlight one is a XC fairmont GS, the fronts are interchangable, but considering that ford dropped the "351" tag on the XB, the 5 "5.8" badge on the side shows it could be a true XC, same front minus the daytona bolt on stuff in Mad max
A Ford man,through and through. Excellent Detective work there goober. It is a "true" XC Fairmont,because he has had the car since new,in 1976. My friend who owns the XB,owned it back in 1991,same colour,but in ratty condition. Thats when he sold the car,1991,locally,to another guy. Not sure who bought it? It sat for many many years in a shed,then another mate of mine bought the XB,and put it in his shed. It sat for around 2 years,before he offered it to me,2 years ago for $1200. Which i declined,because i already had my Fairlane and did not have the cash to tidy up the XB anytime soon. Word got around to my mate who orignally owned the car in 1991(when he was 21yrs old). He got in contact with the guy,and bought the car from him for $7K,because he really wanted it back. And its been a money pit/time waster for him since
Back to work tomorrow. Took the only love of my life for a lap again yesterday and the day before. I envy guys like 360C for having owned so many ferraris. And Gil,and all the guys who have driven a few of them. PP,scud,FF ect...... These cars rock!! The 348 is on the crap end of the scale compared to the newer ferrari's i guess..... but they are still awesome to drive. I cant comment enough on how much fun i have driving it. Slow or fast. Very cool. The amount of kids i saw the other day waving and smiling as i was cruising around made my day.
