I'm thinking about sending with wife and a friend to a Spa for a weekend. Does anyone know of one in the not-too-far upstate area of NY / northern NJ? I've sent her to the www.newagehealthspa.com in Neversink, NY but there has to be other options.

    Thanks,
    K-

the mayflower spa in washington depot, ct is one of the highest rated spas on the east coast. i've been there and it's fantastic. the drive up is really nice as well. you can actually get directions and a review of it on our website. newyorkmotorclub.com

The Canyon ranch (www.canyonranch.com) in Lenox western MA is good. Its very much a health spa, but has excellent facilities and food. Its very expensive, but that's mainly because they have loads of staff and a huge list of activities on site.

Its definitely not a place to go and loaf, but if you want to "do stuff and be healthy" its very good. In line with this it does not serve alcoholic beverages.
