Weekly Fchat Photo Contest

I know we have a lot of photographers here and I was wondering if there was any interest in a weekly/bi-weekly photo contest between members, at the end we could have a poll of all the photos and everyone can vote. What do you guys think?

 

Great idea! But maybe it should be limited to shots that have actually been made in the timeframe of the contest. Otherwise, the good photographers here just open their archives.

Another idea would be a certain topic. Like in the mystery car thread: The winner says what the next competition will be all about. Like, "horses", or "people with sunglasses" or something more abstract like "fun". Everyone has one or two or three weeks then to make a photo, winner will be determined by a poll, and so on.

 

Yeah, that sounds perfect, I really like the idea of the winner choosing the next category, that keeps 1 person from having to come up with one every week/2-weeks.

 

Monthly would give more time for specific subjects.

I would have to agree with Jorge - that keeping it on a monthly basis would allow most folks some time to get out and take pics.

 

Works for me, how about I create another thread with Monthly Photo Contest and a theme and we have it run from the 15th to the 15th of each month, sound good?

 

Wouldn't it be smarter to start at the beginning of the month...?

 

Not sure it matters, with a week of voting before the winner can pick the next subject it'll be on a 5(ish) week rolling cycle.

One question; how are you calculating the midnight deadline, as some of us are in different time zones?

 

Good point, lets say midnight pacific but I don't think its going to be a huge deal if you're late by a couple hours.

 

Great idea! I'd love to contribute, it would get me out and about shooting, something I really should be doing more of!

In an attempt to rig the contest, I suggest the first theme be at least 200 feet under water

 

Great idea guys, and I like the "recent" criteria as well.... it will get me out shooting more also... Can't believe the new angles I have been looking for after seeing the fantastic shots on this site !

Well, an overall theme, but the picture can be anything you want. "spring" will be the first theme.

Great! I think we need to make it mandatory that those who submit photos must vote, and obviously can't vote for themselves.
