    308 motor is a tank. I shipped a 2v motor and it was 650lb fully dressed with transaxle. I would guess its at least 450-500lbs with ancillaries. By comparison the larger displacement 355 motor is factory listed at 375lbs or so.

    rough numbers;
    bare block w/ steel liners = ~60lbs
    bare block w/ aluminum liners = ~50lbs
    block w/ crank, rods & pistons = ~135lbs
    block w/ cylheads and cams = ~240lbs
    block w/ gearbox, sans accessories = ~575lbs -actually weighed-

    gearbox = one heavy SOB!
