OK, the other day I went to take the car to get dynoed and the clutch pedal went to the floor too easy and the clutch didn't work !! I suspected it may be the triple seal problem so I pulled the rear to pieces and checked it all out .... no issue there. So I get the missus to help bleeding the clutch and when she pushes the pedal to the floor very little fluid comes out of the bleed nipple at the clutch end. Master cylinder for the clutch is my next suspect as the clutch still doesn't disengage and the pedal is not getting any pressure. Now this happened totally out of the blue and the clutch had been working perfectly up until this time so could a seal in the master cylinder break this easily ? Or am I looking at something else ? It looks like there has been a leak under the master cylinder for the clutch but this could have happened ages ago, I don't pull this part of the car apart that much and have never looked for a leak under the master cylinder before. Cheers JM
It is the master, the slave cilinder or air in the system Mine had a minor leak under the clutch so I had to replace all O-rings and seals of the slave Triple seals are gearbox related but it is a good idea to replace them
I'm confused about the triple seals comment. What do they have to do with the clutch? But yes the master and slave cylinders can pretty much go out instantly. I dought you just suddenly got air in te system for some reason. If you didn't see clutch fluid all over in the rear then I would say it is the master cylinder. The slave cylinder usually makes a mess when it fails but the master can fail and never leak a drop.
Just so you know, when a master or slave cylinder goes the other often follows in relatively short order. It's probably too late, but I'd suggest replacing the slave "while yer in there" if the pumpkin is still off the car.
