1976 308. Behind the lower left corner of the dash (behind the stupid clock/oil pressure gauge cluster on the early cars) is a black electrical box that's making a clicking noise, kind of like when a flasher relay goes off. What the hell is this thing and why is it clicking like a time bomb? (I can't find it in the 1978 parts manual I found online - whatever it is, there's a visable diode on the bottom of it.) Thanks.
Actually, the mystery box is more inbetween that 2-gauge cluster on the far left side of the dash and the steering column. Any help appreciated. Pen
I just went and looked, I think it's a buzzer for the "door open with key on"....I'll double check in my owner's manual later if no one replies here.. Whatever mine is hasn't made a sound in years, you can have it! I'll trade for a clock....why would someone take my clock??? ARRRRRGH!
There's a door-open or seat-belt buzzer under the dash next to the steering column this is a bright brass that's smaller than my mystery box. It's also closer to the firewall whereas mystery box is right up against backside of the dash. Thanks!
I'll check the component diagram at home.. Books and tools are too valuable to keep in the car...LOL! Actually I USE the tools, all the time......
Pen, A cursory overview of the manual does not ID this component, in the dashboard view. We are going to have to trace it in the wiring diagram, if none of the 308GTB savvy techs happens across this thread! PM Rifledriver? I have one but it is not clicking today...
