Could be the thrunge seal only expanding to 11psi when cold?…I’ll PM Moretti he’s the specialist in that area…
Cold start problem like most carbed cars to this day. No idea how to fix it sorry, just stating the obvious.
Nah, just kidding. Carbies need a little choke in the cold weather to help pull a little more fuel into the carby to keep it running as smoothly as possible until the engine warms up. EFI cars do this via their 'cold start' programming in the ECU. Carby cars rely on the choke to make it as plessant as possible during cold start up. Some chokes work well, some chokes are rubbish. I don't know what choke is in your Bambino, if it still even has it in there?
What was replaced or disconnected/reconnected in the period between when it was operating fine and when the problem suddenly appeared ? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well I ordered new plugs when I ordered the air cleaner so that’ll be next but the current plugs and leads aren’t very old.
Don’t laugh - everytime I change the leads I have to ring the mechanic and ask which is 1 and which is 2 - he says “1 is front” and I go back to the garage and then realise I can’t remember if ‘front’ means front of the car or front of the engine bay!
Auto electrician somehow got the throttle cable out of position when he replaced the starter cable, but it’s been back to the workshop and that has all been corrected. Car was running fine when I got it back from workshop but then this issue when I got in the car to go to work last week.
Karen I would try the new plugs and wipe the cables on the leads and clean the end of the lead’s with some fine steel wool…That’s an easy job …Then go to the fuel system next if that doesn’t work and go electrical system if the first two don’t work..
I actually think Moretti might be correct - as mentioned, the engine is not misfiring per se, but ‘hiccuping’; also when it starts to clear it’s ‘hunting’ slightly at first. I don’t remember any mention of the fuel pump when all the fuel stuff was done so maybe a classic case of once everything else is repaired the ‘good’ bit fails! It’s a weird little mechanical gadget so I’ll report back when the mystery is solved. Image Unavailable, Please Login
