I've been pretty critical of Indy since they totally destroyed the fabric of the IndyCar with all that nonsensical aero which pushed the boundaries of the definition of open wheel racing. It looks like they've listened to fans and are revamping the car to a more retro style.

Not great... but much better. The sidepods are still ridiculous, but I can live with it. I just find interesting that while here we have a series who fairly quickly understood that their direction on the cars was wrong and hurt the series and are addressing it, in F1, the FIA just says F-You to the teams, the drivers, and the fans.

Great looking car. What's sad about the halo is that the FIA seemed to be listening to the fans that wanted better looking and faster cars. They succeeded and the cars this year are beasts. Now they will be ruined aesthetically with this monstrosity that has been UNIVERSALLY PANNED

I'm all for evolution. I'm not against change. But if you fundamentally change what something is, it's something new not a progression from what was. if the FIA wants to create these cars with zero risk despite what everyone wants, despite what it does to the particular sport, they should just create a new series with those cars and it can sink or swim on its own.

F1 should always look like some version of F1. F1 is the pinnacle of open wheel, open cockpit motorsport. It should always resemble that in some way. The Halo is the opposite direction.

At least IndyCar listened to the fans, and more importantly saw their viewership drop because long time fans no longer recognized these toys as IndyCars any longer. They were something else. But they had the balls to fight and admit fault and revise. F1 is the exact opposite it seems.

I think it comes to a very very basic question: Are these series, the teams, the governing bodies... creating and racing solely as a manufacturing and developement for themselves or they racing and doing all this to create a sport for entertainment and fans.

i think that if they can solve the solution Seb tested, it would be great, quite frankly the car didn't look bad with it...as for the halo..it's a pos...

  8. Halo? What halo? Is this discussion IndyCar or F!? :)

And aesthetics? What about technology? What makes them go faster...

What's the fear in letting manufacturers and teams do some engineering so we see some real competition? Oh. I forgot about the "show"....what's the matter wit' me...? :(
