I don't know if any of you guys in San Antonio knew Allen, I barely did. I got to meet him one day last year about this time. He was a very special guy, the kind of "Car Guy" that could talk about anything with 4 wheels on it.

I met Allen a few days after I got a call for someone at Make-A-Wish, I didn't have to think twice about what they asked of me. We spent practically all morning cruising around in my 360 coupe. We raced up the highway back into San Antonio from his house where we picked him up. One Ferrari and 20 F body cars as part of the Camero/Firebird club here in SA.

Most of those guys knew Allen, they knew about his love of cars (especially Ferrari),friends, and life. We raced up the highway that day, one 360 and 20 F bodys, it was a day that seemed like people didn't care that we were going 140MPH thru traffic. It was if they knew it was the way Allen wanted it.

Allen got to ride in three Ferraris that day, he even got to drive my 2000 360 Challenge car. Now, I never had a brother, but that day I tried to treat him like one. After all, not many people would have opened up their car door for a 16 yr old, much less their garage full of Ferraris and toys.

I never really thought about the story, it just never occured to me. He seemed so heatly, so normal, so much like me at 16.

Well, you probably have figured out by know what I was told late last night. This week, on Tuesday or Wednesday( I'm not real sure) Allen passed away. His illness returned after some time in remission, an his body just couldn't handle it anymore.

Allen returned to my shop one day, just to say "Hi". I told him to come back at anytime. It just seems weird to know that he won't ever get a chance to do that.

Live life to the fullest, enjoy what you have, and what God gives you. If you get a chance, share what you have with someone that might benefit from it. You just never know who's life you might affect.

Sad news to hear of a young life cut to short...You should feel proud and honored to have had those moments with him you did. You truly gave him a very special and one of a kind gift that I know he treasured.

Sorry to hear that. And as mentioned previously, we (as privelidged Ferrari owners) should share our good fortune with others. It's through selfless acts like such, that we can truly make this a better place.

FWIW, the child (seen in wheelchair) that I was supposed to chaffeur during the Montreal Children's Hospital Dream Drive in 2004, passed away in January 2005 after a lengthy battle with a rare form of bone cancer. The day of the outing, he was too weak to be taken for a ride, so he offered his seat to his cousin.

very sad to hear. it really warms my heart to know that you all take the time to become important to another person in rough circumstances.

what really impresses me most is that you all have put your heart in a position to be broken w/ the chance of a sad end...you all are super and wes, i am sorry to hear of your little friends passing. you did the right things for the right reasons. thank you for sharing your special experience.

Thanks for going this, Wes. The hardest job in the world has to be working a place like MD Anderson and dealing with kids who have cancer.

    Thanks for your efforts.
