A friend of mine is an automotive journalist and this time around he got his hands on the Audi R8 with the Lambo-inspired V-10. A few weeks ago he had the R8 with the V8 but he said the power was definitely more impressive with the V10.

This car is insanely quick and the quality of workmanship, design, fit and finish is superb. As far as acceleration, I have been in some pretty impressive rides but can't say that aside from some big-bore sport bikes that I have been pushed into my seat like the R8 slingshot.

I have to say that this is probably the quickest, tightest car I have ever been in. Audi got it right with the big R8.

Here is a pic I took of my friend the automotive writer Justin Pritchard posing with the R8-10. I want one!

I hardly imagine it would be more expensive than a Ferrari, broken and out of warrenty.

Still don't understand the logic of someone who'd buy this over an LP560.

I think it would come down to aesthetics. Some would prefer the Audis more sedate bodywork.

Personally at their price point neither would even be on my shopping list !

shouldn't it be called the R10 now or name mean nothing anymore in the car industry?

It's about $70k cheaper, isn't it? I mean, I get the thought of "well what's the difference between $160k and $230k once you're already over $3k/mo"... but there are probably some buyers who limit themselves to a certain price point. (Of course, that leaves a ton of used Gallardos in the $90-150k range anyway)

The Audi R8 is the Lexus of GT/Sports cars, not that nice looking, and boring as hell.

If it's just down to performance, the logic is obvious. There are already companies out there stealth-flashing the Lambo ecu maps onto them to get the same engine power, you'd still have a big pile of money left over...

One is 160K new, one is 240K new. But when it comes to the used market, the LP's are around 180K for a few thousand miles. Still, it's really down to personal taste. I took the V8 over the Gallardo, and will take the V10 CS over the LP560 SL. I think the Lamborghini design is too old and common now. R8 still does it for me. I think it's also a superior car, and that the V10 will no doubt match and surpass the LP when you reflash the ECU to give 560 hp. There's also the CS model that's coming and that should toast the LP as well.

Same, if not better car and less money. Just depends what name and look you want to pay for.

I tested the LP560 and thought it was a pretty sweet car though. Can't go wrong with either.

Ferraris are a lot more reliable than an Audi and break down with fewer major problems.

Not sure about that. I've had my current Audi TT since late 2007, and so far zero issues. (And I don't baby it...)

I will probably do another Audi next year for a daily driver.

I would far rarther have the R8 V10 than a Gallardo, minority yes but I have never really been a fan of the Gallardo. R8 looks better in my opinion, has a better interior and will probably cost less to run.

I put over 100,000 miles on each of my last 2 Audis, (still going on the Allroad) no major issues. My Ferrari, well lets just say hopefully it is properly sorted after all that has been done to it by the great Dr. Helms.

The lp 560 is lighter with more hp than the r8 v10...and it looks better and more aggressive than the r8...we have two r8s, both v8 in our neighborhood and while the styling is nice, its not head turning like a Ferrari or Lambo..I would go for a used lp560 for around $170k....
