the show no longer exits. I think it had to due with security issues or something. 2005 was the last event they had. Good times though
It was a great event, and partnered with the PCA. I once drove my vintage BMW up there to meet with other e9 owners; one of the armed security guards hassled me about what was sticking out from under the front of my car. It was the tow hook. He must have thought it was a laser cannon...
last time i drove up to west point i was in an e46 m3 up and they stopped me at the gate for a "random check" but one of the guards spilled the beans and told me they just wanted to check out my car, haha.
The only bad thing about going to the show there was driving my 328 over the security ramp at the checkpoint...
When I attended, they made me open up the hood thinking that was the trunk. Then I opened the trunk & showed them the shoe-box size area. The guard looked at me "Are you serious? Where do you put luggage?" I replied "American Express. Don't leave home without it". He chuckled & let me pass.
I am pretty sure that I heard that this event was no more because of the destruction to the lawn after the cars left and the last time I attended it rained and did not help keep the lawn pristine.
At the last meet,I heard a middle eastern man was spotted in an 88 tr with plastic c4 explosives molded into the engine lid, the spark plug wires had a hidden switch that reverses the firing order on the distributor cap.The security check out front missed this feature and allowed the tr in...when he set up the car on the playing grounds, it was a bomb sniffing german shepard that detected the c4 composite...the gentleman terrorist was secretly wisked away...the tr was destroyed off the playing grounds and reverse ploarity was never conducted!
Its a shame because the hand-engraved wine bottles used for the awards were beautiful; it took six months after the show to get your bottle...
