Does anyone know if the owner of that oil company in Midland still has that silver Mclaren F1? I actually saw it in auto trader a while back for $800,000. He owned several other exotics some of which including the F1 were tested by Road and Track at the Firestone facility west of Ft. Stockton.

He's a friend of Audiguy's, he could probably tell you. But we don't see him around here much any more, he's working way too hard.

It is the Ameritech version. The guy picked it up in New Jersey and drove it home to Midland. I cannot think of his name but he is the CEO/owner of B&E(i think it's B&E) Oil in Midland.

Yeah that's the one I read about ... Going from memory the a/c was pretty inadequate that they resorted to putting wet towels on the inside of the car to cool it down :). Enterprising couple! :)

The Ameritech version was slower than the Euro version even allowing for the high temperatures of that roadtest

the F 1 in Midland is owned by a friend of mine

It is a Euro that he purchased there and also purchased the american bumpers etc... 30 seconds off the boat it was back to euro spec

It was not in Autotrader, it is in the shop waiting for a drive shaft.

the man who owns it is also an Enzo Murci and many other things owner.

Hey guys. How's it going. This is the first time in over a week I have even had a chance to look at F/C and you are talking about a friend of mine. Cool...

It is BTA Drilling and Exploration in MIdland.
Yes he still has it as Writerguy says. He broke the main gear cluster shaft and has the gearbox sent back to McLaren for a fix.

    He is a neat guy.
    1. Owned the first Countach brought into the US.
    2. Bought his son a Diablo to drive to Texas Tech for Ranch Management classes.
    3. Has two Don Hess prepared Pro-Stock Oldsmobiles.
    4. Rides dirtbkes for fun.
    5. Flies a Bell Jet-Ranger helicopter and will sometimes fly it to work and land on the helo pad on the top of his building.

Yes it is Ameritech. When he first go it he and his wife flew up to pick it up and it had no outside seats and the funky bumpers. His wife rode all the way back to Texas on beachtowels in the seatwell on the right hand side of the car. The seats were installed later.

He took his mechanic to Italy and got his Lambo certified so he can do his own work. His mechanic is doing things with his Lambos that the factory is not even doing. Writerguy can tell you some of the cool stories he knows about this.

As many of you know, he let me have the car for three days and all he said was "have fun and don't make me cry. It is self insured". Three days I will remember the rest of my life.

Gotta go now. Talk to you guys later..............

This is the same McLaren that was in Road & Track magazine several years ago, is this correct?? I have the issue, I just don't want to dig around for it for the exact date.

Yes, it is the same car. You will notice in the second or third paragraph of the article they say that it "belongs to a gentleman from Texas who prefers to remain annonymous". He is just that way. Loves toys but does not like to draw attention to himself.

They do not tell you in the roadtest that he shipped the car out to Arizona at his own expense so they could do the test. During the test they burned out the clutch and wore out a set of tires. They would not replace the clutch after the test and did not agree to replace the tires they wore out for several months after the test was completed. He will not allow R&T to test another of his cars.............At least, not at this time.

Don't those federalized bumper look just.............................
