dear friends, it is with sad news to announce that I must have set a record for shortest lifespan before trashing a car. I recently purchased AUG. 31st '06 my new car with 3780 miles at a clip of 92.5k great car, immaculate condition, drove it 37 miles before getting it flooded in a rain storm. My comment and question are as follows

    1. The seats needed replaced at 16k per, front and back, new intake valves and pumps at 10k and some body work amazingly cheap at 5k. Insurance picked up the 55k bill (p.s. no trans problems mentioned but replacement cost is approx. 56k "we priced it out just in case" for those of you who are interested

    2. For any of you in the know, what risks do I have in the future, and what problems have come up on "flooded" ferrari's

    thx

Did the insurance company total the vehicle, dosen't sound like it. If you don't have a salvage title the insurance claim will show on a carfax report, I think.

Did the water get to the top of the dash, if so, bad news for the electronics in the future.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

no it did not get up to the dash, it just barely got inside the door, by doing so it reuined the electronics for the seat hence the need for a replacement on all of them.
the mechanic at Ferrari of Orlando named Ron Schillings noted that water did not get into the engine and for that reason there was no need to rebuild it, and in talking with Randy (one of the mechanics) he did not really see anything wrong with it, he drove it fine, and it started ok with normal idle and engine pressure.

the ins. co did not total it, I don't know why ( i think they are assuming a tremendous amt of liability if anything else should happen to the car)

I don't much care about the car fax report, I did not intend on selling this ruby anytime soon, and just fell in love with her.

Does anyone have any experience working with Ferrari of Central Florida?

FofCF takes great care of me and my car. Never had anything but perfect service from everyone there. Randy and Gabe typically deal with my car but I know Ron as well... nothing but good things to say about the entire bunch.

How did you flood it? Were you driving it with the windows down?

    Hi there,
Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
At one point you mention the need to replace the intake valves and pumps(?) and then you say it was not necessary to do anything to the engine.
Can you clarify what valves and pumps you are referring to?
In case you have second thoughts about the dealer, there is an excellent service available in Naples: F1 Imports and Exotics that I am using and I can recommend for any job requiring the use of the brain as opposed to reading the F manuals.
    Saluti,

    Tarzan,
the situation was rather dreadful I was at a restaurant on westshore and cypress, and notorious floodzone in our city, and was having a peaceful dinner. I walked to my car and the entire parking lot was roughly one foot of water deep. The water entered the car through the doors, I guess there was not enough to seal it because when I looked it it was all wet ; seats, it never did get up high enough to the center console, so none of that electric equipment was damaged

Thanks for sharing with me, I almost bought my 456 from them. they have a blue one with 10k for sale that was a real jewel, however the one in texas with 3k was too much of a deal to pass up

I will clarify the valves and pumps and give specific pricing detail Oct. 27th.
that is when I am scheduled to pick up the car and will be glad to share that info with all
    till then
