Im thinking of getting one. The more I look at the car the more I love it. I don't mind getting one with some miles on it, but I want at least 2 yrs of warantee minimum. There is a lot of talk about depreciation on the 12 cylinder models, so I obviously want that to work to my advantage. Then again, if the 07' or 08' model has significant improvements in terms of performance then I might consider ordering one or buying one in stock. Every person I have spoken to that has driven the car absolutely LOVES it. Im not looking for it to be in the realm of my F430 as far as all out performance, Im looking at it as a pure GT. Im definitely getting the F1 tranny. If you had the ability to buy one today what would you do? Im in no hurry, and I want the right car for the right price. Any opinions would be welcomed.

612 is a fantastic car and is on my list for sure. I would only get an HGTC. Feels so different from a normal 612. And the exhaust note is much better than the 599

Try to find an 06 with the HGTS or HGTC pkg. I paid 50k under sticker for mine, an 06 HGTS pkg with 2,200 miles.

How long do you plan to keep it?

A 612, new or used, is going to face significant depreciation. Ferrari is trying to manage this by reducing the production numbers, but it's still going to happen.

If you own cars for a long time (10+ years), I'd probably get a new one. If you only want to own it for a couple of years, used might be the way to go.

Friend of mine drove the 612 in Bahrain on the GP circuit there and confirmed that it really handles very well and makes for a great GT.

I would go for it, maybe go for used with HGTC and save on the depreciation, there is are rumours of a facelift on the 612 though, which would hit values a bit further but there is an old saying "does one buy cars to enjoy or to make money" can one really quanitfy the driving joy a 612 can provide?

    1. New or used? I have found that it really doesn't make that much difference. 612 is readily available so you should be able to negotiate a good deal on a new one. Big advantage is that you can get exactly what you want and that makes for happy motoring. Other big advantage to new is that you are sure that you are not getting a lemon that someone is sick of sending to the shop

    2. Facelift hitting value? Really? If face-lifted car is more $ might help value. 360 Spiders held up quite well after 430 Spider came out at much more $$$. That is the trend. Face-lift is one thing, new generation model is something completely different. 575 HGTC became a classic car when 599 came out. That hit value big time

I can't think of a better GT car ever made. It is beautiful, fast, unique and gives some decent utility. As "used" Ferraris generally have about 150 miles on them, lol, and the leather still smells great! it gives you a multitude of options. "Forza" has had a few articles on the car which I really enjoyed, but the best was "Sports Cars International" when it first came out. Fantastic car.

    Just bought a

    2006 612 6 speed
Silverstone/Black with Dark grey stitching and inserts
    Heated Daytonas
    GTS package
    Yellow calipers, tach, shields
    Navigation
    2700+mi

    51K under sticker

I went for the 6 speed because I have a F1 F430 spider. I think I will keep this car for a long time.

It will depreciate, but it will hold its value much, much better than its competition. Buy a S/CL/SL65 and it loses at least 50K when you drive it off of the lot - well actually the CL might hold its value for the next year.

HGTC = GTS + ceramic brakes.

The package has stiffer suspension , faster Gb , and freeer sounding exhaust.

H-GTC also has carbon fiber instead of aluminum trim on the interior, dash, and steering wheel

I have looked around for pictures of this but could not find any, all of them have the aluminum trim. Do you have any that you could post?

The 612 is a great car, I hope you get one. But how will you make depreciation work for you? Do you know something most of us don't?

I think he means that he will buy a used one that has already depreciated to make it a better deal for him.

Personally, I would wait a bit to see if Ferrari surprises us with a nextgen 612. The price may actually be lower than it is today because the car is not selling well. I predict a fairly significant redesign for '08. I really liked the car with the manual transmission but if you have your heart set on an F1, that's your choice (probably good for resale too). If I were buying one today, I would purchase a used one and do some interesting "Kalikow" type mdifications to give more panache to the car. These cars are not precious or rare so I wouldn't worry or have guilt about any such modifications.

they may not be precious (yet), but i think they are pretty rare. the build number is very low for modern ferrari standards - i think it is less than 2000 worldwide. anybody know the precise number?

Finding a 612 with the GTS/GTC pkg is next to impossible. It is the hardest to find new Ferrari. There is a big difference between the regular 612 and the GTS/GTC pkg.

That's why I jumped on the 612 6-speed H-GTS. First and only one that I've seen. There have only been a few good color combination cars around over the past 6 months. FoSF does have a black H-GTC 2007 new.
