After having my Mondial for a few months I am getting round to (AND BUDGETING FOR) those things that should improve the drive. I thought I would share this as a new or prospective owner might find it useful.

I had the engine sensors done by QV of London. The sensors failed a week after getting the car and I ended up getting towed. After replacement the car started and ran (now at least I know that these are good!)

I did the spark plug leads (used generic type and modified just like in the F threads) and the car ran a lot better and started first time.

I had the guys a QV do the belts (they were 5 years old) I wasnt going to risk doing them and QV did it in a few hours, it would have taken me ages. The car is now sooooo much better to drive, smoother, quieter and more power and far less jerky.

I changed the gearbox oil (to torquo) and it finds the right gear straight away even when cold, no embarrassing hesitations going between gears while small family estates overtake you.

These things have made a real transformation to the car and I am now really enjoying driving it, its not hard work anymore. I have replacement 348 wheels and once I sort out the bolts I am hoping that the steering, handling and road noise might be improved over the old TRXs.

If I was buying the car again I would probably just look at doing all of these things straight away unless I was absolutely certain that they had been done as it has made such a difference to the whole feel of the thing!

Glad to hear you're enjoying your Mondi. Did you change the spark plugs when you changed the leads? If not, consider a set of NGK plugs (or Bosch or Champion, whichever you prefer). Be sure to gap them properly per the manual. I did it with my Mondi this spring and it made a nice difference in how the engine runs. The manual says .025" as I recall, but some people suggest going to .035 or .040 to get a "hotter" spark. You don't need a hotter spark if you have the right plugs. You'll get all the spark you need at .025.
