We just came back from 5 days of Italy with 11 Ferrari's. What a great little car this is. Here's a brief impression of driving heaven. This is just 6 minutes out of a 34-minute recording. This road just went on and on and on. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_qoFZHaxcg[/ame]
Looks like a heap a fun Hans. I'm envious in a way with you being able to drive across many countries. I must say it does look funny seeing someone sitting on the wrong side of the car driving. We recently did a round of 1300kms in 2 days around Tasmania. Very windy roads.
Hans you are a true GT4 fan! The car sounds great! Way better than my car, that's for sure. It handles great. Did someone close that road for you? I'd like to drive my 308 to Italy to, but I can't take any luggage Oh, and last question, how did you mount the camera onto your GT4?
What great fun. Reminds me a bit of my drive from Maranello to the Cinque Terre through the coastal mountain range. Of course I was in a Hyundai i10 but it did have a manual transmission and I imagined it was a Fiat. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful! Although we only see the back of your head, I image there's a smile from ear to ear on your face!
Pack light Kris, and you'll be able to bring all you need. The camera is a GoPro and comes with a suction cup holder that mounts nicely on the quarter windows of the GT4. Also done a video with it stuck to the bodywork of René and Heidi's 16M (430 scuderia spider), with Heidi driving it. The sound on that one when the exhaust valves open is beyond belief
Oh Man! That must have been incredible! Did you have the smile from your face sergicly removed? Or is it still there? I'm smiling and I was only watching the vid! GT4'S ROCK!!!! They are so old school They RULE!!!!!! Cheers!
That was truly awesome. You had quite a entourage going behind you. I love the gear whine of a V8 Ferrari.
Superb Hans. What a place to take your Ferrari - The Italian Lakes. As I recall Lago D'Iseo also has a excellent road running around that lake. No doubt about it, the pleasure you can get from driving a discreet GT4 is Ferrari's best kept secret.
Great video Hans. I've very recently bought my first Ferrari, a '74 308 GT4 and I'm still very much getting to know it. We have a road trip planned for the end of September to go to Tuscany and return via Garda and then into Switzerland via the Stelvio. My dilemma is that the original plan was to take my 427 Cobra, which I'm sure will be terrific on the roads and it has the added benefit of being left hand drive. However, it has no roof whatsoever, so if it rains, or even snows up in the mountains, we're going to get wet. The alternative of course is to take the Dino, which has a roof and of course, it's Italian, so I'd be taking it home. How was the Dino received in Italy? I haven't had it long enough yet to have any idea how reliable it will be, whereas I've had the Cobra nearly 8 years so I know it inside out. My wife wants to take the Dino, but 500bhp in less than a tonne also has its appeal. Paul Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry - but only a little as I'm biased. A Ferrari mechanic who's driven every Ferrari model under the sun once told me his favorite car to drive is the '85 GTO and the 308GT4. Good company! The Gt4 is such a well balanced fun-fun car to drive. The connection with the road is superb. Beautiful roads to drive on. I drove some of those roads in a Citroen diesel - not quite the same effect Thanks for posting this video.
I had a trip from Ingolstadt of Germany all the way to Almalfi Sorrento of Italy in an Audi R8 V10 a few years back passing Tuscany in the way. Met a few Ferraris and other exotics on the way in Italy and I'd think that you would be better off in the GT4. Northern and central Italy are pretty safe and friendly. Lots of fun roads along the way as long as you don't always drive on motorways. It'll be fun.
I had to watch without the sound, so tell me... Did you downshift and goose the throttle going through the tunnel? I know I would have. And my wife would have rolled her eyes, shook her head, and said something about boys and their toys. And I would have loved it. Seriously, though. Fabulous road. I have to get there at some point!
