"Saving the engines for the European GP" quote from R D of Maclaren your at your home GP and infront of your home crowd and your saving your engines when you have been truly whipped in your own back yard Forza Ferrari
Thanks for the spoiler. After you said Ron told them to back off, I figured it meant they shouldn't try to compete with one (if not both) of the Ferraris. Thanks a lot...
Yes, a spoiler. RD "Mr. Integrity" is the master of spin. sure, they don't care about Silverstone, waiting for Germany to excel. Right.
sorry Lads about the spoiler got carried away. RD just makes my blood boil. bring on Germany more of the same
RD would have us believe a bird in the hand is worth less than a half a bird in the bush. Not buyin' it here, mate.
Ron has been hanging around Alonso too much (I know that irritates a few people on here - feel free to flame!)
Speaking of Alonso He said the only reason Hamilton is doing well is he is using his data?? What doyou all think?
Not exactly but that is how journos wanted it to sound ;-) ... here it is from LH http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_2482039,00.html
Lewis: I chose a different rear end than Fernando. Guess he got a pretty good look at FA's different rear end since he could see it most of the race, but perhaps LH was too far back for it to do him much good! Wonder how FA liked looking at Kimi's rear most of the day.
they could have been looking at 2 red rear ends if Schumassa hadn't stalled Shame Phil couldn't get past Rubik's Cube
+1 BTW, latest quote from Stepney: I categorically deny that I copied them [the documents] or that I sent them to Mike Coughlan, Stepney was quoted as saying yesterday. I knew I was being watched all the time at the factory and that everything I did or said was being reported back, and that people knew whenever I accessed files on the computer. I have no idea how anything came into Mikes possession. If he has some documents, they came from another source. The plot thickens...... Great job today by Kimi. That is patently ridiculous !!! "There is not one person at McLaren, That would even consider using data, that belonged to anyone else, that would be unethical!" - Ron Dennis - July 2007
I've said that all along ... definitely helps that is for sure. And this time RD's comments are plain rediculous Pete
Alonso looked good but really wasn't. He noticeably was able to close up on Kimi when need the end of Hamilton's first stint. Kimi was clearly held up at this point. That's how Alonso came out in front after the first round of stops absolutely nothing else there.
By LH ... and thus Alonso was able to close up because LH was slower than Alonso ... Alonso was simply faster than LH today, fact!. But the Ferraris definitely had the car advantage. Pete
consider this question guys - who owns Mclaren. once you know the answer you might (or probably wont) reconsider why this may have been said. and whilst Kimi did win (and by a nice margin over LH) it wasnt what could be called "a whipping in your back yard" fact - LH outqualified both SF drivers fact - both LH and FA beat Massa fact - both teams scored exactly the same number of points. now i havent seen the race (spent the day at wimbledon) so my comments are based on reviews on various sport sites and news reports. But what is undeniabke is that LH took another podium finish in what is a dream start to his rookie year in ANYONES book.
Guys we have again played journo and not taken all the facts in, and actually what Ron said. The McLaren team backed off on their engines once they realised that they had no hope in winning. I say fair enough, and Ron makes it very clear they did this not as an excuse but in a "we were not going to win anyway" attitude. Think about it, 2nd place even if a lap down is still 2nd place ... thus McLaren were playing smart. Get rid of the 2 race engine rule ... Pete
Nick, please don't enter facts here , we don't like them ok ?? and I've heard on the grapevine that Ferrari are grooming monkeys as drivers so they can save on wages , Enzo never liked his drivers all that much and reckoned it was always the car and this will be their way of proving it outsourcing at it's finest
My wife, who is always right about everything, thinks F1 should do away with the 2 races per engine rule too.
