http://money.cnn.com/2006/06/14/Autos/pricey_lemon/index.htm?cnn=yes I suppose there is a story behind this.
Yea, it's called Tech Support. AMG is only recently a division of MB, though....and good luck on that diminished value based upon production quantities.....that's some big dreamin' going on there........ Rich cry babies.......
I can not believe I just read that. A guy invests $1.7 million hoping for a nice return, but in your eyes he is a cry baby. Is this because he has that kind of money to invest? The car did not make it 10 blocks, I mean you would think MB would at least give a 1000 miles warranty or something more than pound sand cry baby.
Here's the deal...a NEW car of any kind despite rarity is NOT an "investment"...it's similar to a stock IPO.. It can pop or it can drop...........ten blocks or ten miles later it's a used car following a normal depreciation curve. Anyone believing anything else is letting someone blow smoke up his azz.......while the salesman counts the money! Usually the crass egotism of these "players" alienates the dealer so badly they flush 'em! It can happen...... I have an independent local MB shop that could fix the thing, most likely, but I talk nicely to them, not threaten them with attorneys!
If you give 1.7M to Glickenhaus and Company you can expect a nice return.. If you spend it on anything with t its or tires, well that's a poorly planned scenario.....those deals will be worth less over time, rarely MORE...sadly his legal fees are burning more money as we speak, good $$ after bad....he should negotiate a buy back and go on with life.....
Grey market cars are notoriously difficult to service...... PT Cruisers are RARE? I dated a girl with one...her husband took it away when he found out! She was bouncing up and down on her speed dial, it turned out.... He had a Viper to match....
Since we are talking about Investments and cars I cant resist but to chime in. I think CERTAIN types of cars are an investment. The rare ones do perform very similar to a commodity. It is all about finding the right car at the right time for the right price. When I buy a car I go about the process similar to how I would buy a stock, lots of research and with good timing. Unfortunately, I also have some first hand experience with Mercedes Benz of North America and their complaint resolution department. Well here is the deal, they dont have one because they dont care about the customer. This goes for everything from the dealer level to the US headquarters. I came to the conclusion that the only way to get anything done was litigation, I didnt go that route but the FTC did open a file on them. Also I think PT Cruisers are lame. I also think I am lame for typing this email at 11:55 on a Saturday night because I have nothing better to do.
