Afternoon friends. I drove my Mondial QV to work today, now that the weather has cooled off here in Houston. And doing so has caused me to post this simple comment: What a treat that car is to drive! We are so fortunate to get to enjoy these wonderful machines. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had mine out over the weekend, going to parties.....it is a nice feeling, even just putting around town....
LOL That picture was taken by the PO up in Tulsa. My lawn is Houston-November-kinda-green. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes. Perfect weather here in PHX now. I forgot how fun the car was. new suspension bushings, new shocks, new tires and wheels, carbs rejetted, it is a blast to drive. So much so that my gas mileage went down by about half since it doesn't lean sputter anymore when I open the throttle plates, thus, I am a lot more leadfooted. I almost don't want to do with out it for a month or six weeks getting the passenger door rust repaired and interior reupholstered and rebuilding the window motors as long as the door panels are off. Thanks Jim! Being an injected car, it doesn't respond to cold, damp air like a carbed car does, but 50 degree air IS more dense. More importantly, I feel better in 50 degree air so I enjoy the car more. My big observation from the drive home yesterday is something that we all know but its always good to experience it: A 3x8 car driven and shifted north of 5500rpm is a completely different car than when driven with 3000rpm shifts. Given that most of my driving is (unfortunately) in town, the difference is pretty stunning. The lovely noise made does however, make me more of the target for Houston's finest. :-o And speaking of nice noise, I still smile when I remember driving you GT4 last summer.
I have driven mine to work a couple times this week. I may make it four days as nice as our weather has been. I am loving it. I even went for a longer cruise after work today. I did some normal around town driving, then some more spirited driving winding it out a bit more...Oh, what fun that was!!!! PDG
