I have been thinking of buying a nice car to do visits at racetracks, and have been interested in an Alfa Romeo 155 1.8 Twin Spark 16V.

Has anybody had any experience with such car or does anyone know what to look for when buying one?

Why just not buy a red w tan interior alfa 156, 6 speed? Alot better car...you can get a 98-99 one for nothing.

The 155 is a fine car but it is too heavy for the 1.8 engine. I own a 1994 2.0 TS 8v which has been chipped. It is fast enough but not a serious contender for the track.

If you want to go tracking on a budget, get a 75 TS and strip out the interior, bit of suspension work, brake upgrade, rollcage, seat, harness and go (after you have patched up the rusted bits as well).

A Front-Wheel Drive for race tracks? You won't have much fun in that!

I have both a 155V6 and several 75's ... for track work the 75 is much more fun! Very rewarding drive, and mine (at least) has been bulletproof for track work.

I haven't tracked my 155 ... it just understeers waaaaay too much and isn't as chuckable as the 75.

Thanks for the Replys guys. Maybe the 155 isn't such a good idea for track use. I will be looking further for other cars and will keep you posted.
