What are Lightly Used SLR's Trading For These Days?

an executive living the next street over has a silver one and commutes to work several times a week...how about a 500k daily driver...the car would often drive by while i was jogging or bike riding on summer evenings...the car has suprising little presence on the road...from a distance you thinkits a slk until it gets real close and the engine sound is very muted and unimpressive at normal speeds....i am also wondering how much they have fallen in price...i know the carrera gts have been bought new for 40k off list and used ones have sold for well under 400k...now thats a car that i would sell the house for , esp if it drops under 300k............

 

There were a couple of new cars available at ranges from $25k-$40k back of MSRP, which varies from $455-$465k depending on whether it has the special order $10k interior upgrade. Used cars I've seen have been in the low 400's to high 300's depending on the miles they've had. Haven't seen one pass my way in a few weeks however, so these numbers may be a touch out of date...hth

 

the owner of CLUB PARIS here in Orlando just bought a black one, atleast it had paper tags on it......he used to drive a green lambo murci before....

We JUST had one traded in yesterday. I don't know what we have in it, but I do know that the '06s are going to be available in several different colors, not just black and silver. Funny thing is, though, the guy who traded his in wanted the same color, just an '06 model....and there's nothing different (besides the additional colors). Strange.

 

Maybe he knew how sh*tty new MB's are and wanted to have a longer warranty.

i dropped by the charlotte international auto show (was in town for some work w/ bofa) and beck imports had a black SLR there on display. i had inquired of it, and the MBNA rep said "oh, it'll run about $600k." somewhat incredulously, i was like, "uhhh...are you sure?"

the beck imports rep came back over and did indeed confirm thats the price they had on it -- and this was a pre-owned one. they've got 2 on their showroom floor (black and silver) as well as 3 SL65s

i wasnt sure if this price was set as a way to increase foot traffic and help publicity.. but they were talking about production figs and it doesnt seem there's all that many in the states.

 

Interesting. I don't know anyone who goes there. I remember the hype around that place but it doesn't look like they've done much damage to the other clubs in the area.

I was at the MB dealer in escondido, CA this week where they have a black one on display which can be had for sticker. Personally, I would not pay it. $30,000 brake jobs just don't appeal to me. I'll stick with my SL600.

 

Well, following that logic, I know a salesman who will be a very happy camper during the production cycle of the SLR.
