    Dodge Viper.
Lots of vipers have been made but most of them end up wrecked.

Lotus Esprit S4S. The last of the 4 banger Esprits. ~250 made worldwide.

There were LOTS of Mustangs made and still the models that were rare collect a good premium.

The funny and expensive options like the new Mach1 mustang package.
I think a Bullitt edition mustang is one to buy and keep in good shape.

Oddly enough loaded cars never seem to be collectors. The guys who order a corvette without power windows or a radio are a lot more likely to end up with a collector.

How many people are realistically going to hold onto a car for 30 years?

    WCH,
I owned a RHD Amazon Green over Blk lthr 1994 964 Speedster for a couple of years .I'm told only 11 or so RHD'S were imported into UK. Loved it to bits and eventually PX'd for 993 C4 cab, which i hated! I don't think you'll regret buying one if you can find it.
    Sorry to have hijacked thread.

Tony, Any notions on things from that side of the pond? A Ford Escort Cosworth would make a fine addition....

Buick Grand Nat'l Limiteds (GNX) are already selling in the high teens to mid 20's and they are more rare than a 365 GTB/4, countach, and other cars, not to mention quicker.

What about the Chrysler Crossfire...? i know it's new but it is pretty limited (considering)... What about types of cars, in general (then narrow it down from there), like convertibles, cars with 3 doors, limited edition models (by that i mean bigger engines, more power) etc.... Maybe i'm off on the wrong track here, just throwing stuff out... (Hey, i'm left-brained, gimme a break...)

i have a friend who's got a Reatta- that car's destined to be a classic... How about that old BMW sports car, the M1 or M5 or whatever it was called... Not the recent M5, but the old, two-door one... How about the V12 Jaguars...? What was the first-ever SUV...? i don't particularly care for SUVs but wouldn't it be a collectible/classic, nonetheless...? How about cars with odd colors from the factory...? Like the willow green Infiniti...? How about old Mercedes...? Not like the 420, 560 SELs, but more towards those little, two-door things with the HUGE Mercedes emblem in the front grill...

I have to agree with the first gen Viper RT/10s

They can be picked up for a great price these days! Maybe even around $30,000-37,500.

probally to alot of people every Corvette they see reminds them of a true american sports car. Therefore thats probally why people keep listing them. . As far as Vipers go the only thing i can think of is jsut becuase they really tore sh*t up when they first came out. no other american car of the time could really keep up with them. But now days with the Ford GT the new C6, vipers are just another pricey fast car.IMO they do look alot better now though.

The ones I agree with on the list so far...

    1987 Buick Grand National GNX
    ZR-1
    Viper
    280Z
    Impala SS

    One I would add...

    Subaru SVX (sp?)

I wish 1st gen Rx7's. You can pick up running ones for $500, but a real nice one will cost $3-5k. Several of the Rx7 shops I'm using are getting money people sending them 1st gens to restore. That seems like one requirement of a classic... what are people spending more money than what the car is worth to restore? that shows peoples love and that turns into classics.
