I know it’s OT, if it’s not allowed then delete but I always find it interesting when people get together around a car like we have here, to know what else they like in their wheeled lives? So, if you don’t mind revealing I’d be curious.

    Hi,

although a 250 GT/E was on top of the list for my first car back in 1995/96 I ended up with a 1966 Series 1 E-type 4.2L 2+2, and it’s been all Jaguars since then. But very shortly after I found the 1972 Euro spec V12 manual E-type roadster in Germany and got it home I started looking for V12 manual F-cars and found the 456 GT. That was almost six years ago and I am very happy with my choise. :D

    Cheers!

Ps. Also in 2012 I was very close to buying a 365GTC/4, but someone else was faster. But I am sure I am getting more miles or kms on the 456 however than I would with a C4, so not complaining at all.
    (1950 MKV DHC 4-sp, 1972 E V12 OTS Manual 4-sp, 1975 XJ6C Manual 4-sp +O/D, 2004 XJR, 1995 456 GT 6-sp)

Nice! I was looking at an XJ6C just recently and the fellow selling it has an xj12c manual that I was drooling over.

    Hi,

Thanks. A V12 XJC would need to be a modification as the factory only did the four race cars (Broadspeed) with three pedals and a manual gearbox. There are some nice mods, I have seen a few, but it can also be problematic. Our six is a factory 4-sp +O/D which you can always tell from the DN suffix in the chassis number.

Lots of V12 E-types were manual and a few hundred V12 XJ-S’s so the parts exist. We can continue this in the ”British” area on fchat if you like.

Back on Ferraris, the 2+2’s starting from the 250 GT/E also used a similar English Laycock de Normanville overdrive until it was replaced by a 5-sp.

    Cheers!

Yeah I think he put the manual on it but it was original v12 car. He is a jag man and has several. I want the xjc but it was a little rougher than I wanted to take on. But it did have a SBC swap which is interesting. I’m a manual only kind of guy tho so it’s hard to get excited about anything with a slush box

Post pics guys cmon! Also, I know this is a thread in other places but I don’t read the other forums here and don’t have interest in the rear engine cars that much at this time so for me this sub forum is its own entity and the people who love these front engine ferraris are unique in their own ways so to me it’s relevant in regards to these toys.

I mentioned it’s rare to have my toys in one place....I find this one fun....when I recently needed tires for my ‘69 early bronco, Costco wouldn’t do it (their book didn't have torque settings going that far back so they would mount/balance the tire/rim but I had to put it on the truck myself, so I put it on jackstands in the parking lot and rolled each wheel in!

Here are a few other good ones.

That Red/White/Blue Honda Nighthawk-S was always a dream bike growing up, still have it, bought it in 1993.

Action shot of my vintage baja racer Meyers Manx, took me 3 years to build it (I had a lot of help). That photo is us "airing it out" for the first time on day one of the 2018 NORRA Baja Mexican 1k (I go every year with my early bronco buddies who run a race team....I've navigated and crewed but only raced my Manx the one year.

Custom coach Ford Centurion tow rig and family hauler 1992 7.3L Diesel turbo 4x4

Those two 1975 Chevy Laguna S-3's....I sold the red one and kept the Popular Hot Rodding Magazine "Project Talladega" car (DART 427 SBC). I had the red one as it was a cannonball run movie tribute car and I just hadn't set it up for a cross country run yet. Had to have the black one with all the performance upgrades.

That Mazda Miata is the first new car I ever bought, used as a daily and then started racing it in 2005 did the Cannonball Run One Lap of American and then went turbo and raced at circuits around the midwest and west coast (been parked for awhile).

That's most of my toys. VERY patient wife.....this is our 24th year and I'm very grateful.

One of my main jobs is installing chandeliers in rich peoples houses. One client had just finished a mansion on the cliffs in Malibu. It was a nice older house that they bought for 12 million $ and then scraped the house. It was about 50m$ budget so you get the kinda place. But it only had a one car garage! I thought man, that’s weird and pretty demure, but as I was noticing a small gap that went around the entire floor perimeter in the garage, the electrician saw me and waved me over to a control panel. He said what you do is choose the car you want, and up it comes from the floor! Yes, a car dispenser. I didn’t even ask how many it can hold, I was so blown away by the mere concept I couldn’t handle it!

I am very boring compared to many here:
1999 Mercedes C43 w/E55 engine swap (almost as much fun as my 550, but it is also higher maintenance)
2013 Chevrolet Express Explorer SE 9-passenger van (fits my family of 6 and the grandparents for fun family outings).
2012 Toyota Sequoia Platinum (wife’s DD)
2020 RAM 1500 Laramie HEMI w/Etorque (my work truck)

Like many of you, I am blessed with a wife who is supportive of my hobby/addiction. Luckily she grew up in a car family and loves them too; she drove a mint V8 ‘62 Buick Special to high school, and her father has a collection of cool but obscure 1940s-1970s classics (his currect daily driver is a 1976 F100 Sportside 4x4 with a 302, and a 4 on the floor).

    Hi,

Sure, or by now most of us would be divorced. My wife doesn’t care about cars, but has impeccable taste, thus the first choise back in 1996 was a S1 E-type. :)

I only had motorbikes before cars, so fitting all our stuff into an E when we did continental trips accross Europe was easy, I never had any side bags, just a backpack and a tank bag plus tent and mattress + towel rolled up on the rear of the bike.

A couple of weeks ago we drove the manual XJ6C through Sweden and Denmark to Germany to the garage I have there for one car.

One of my limitations is I have always lived in the very center of Helsinki, so garage space has always been a problem.

    Cheers!

Ps. No XJ’s were sold in North America with manual gearboxes, but in Europe they were a (rare) option. Manual 4-sp + O/D from 1969-1979 and a Getrag 5-sp 1979-1997. The bellhousing for the XK engine is easier to find than for the 5.3L V12 or the 3.6/4.0 AJ6/AJ16. Personally I never use adaptor plates or any spacers.

Oh, almost forgot this one, just finished a complete engine rebuild a few weeks ago, engine is from 1948, car 1950. No powersteering, no powerbrakes (but very large drums, 3.6kN at all wheels) no radio ever, 3 1/2 Litre, 110mm stroke. My favorite ride when there is no hurry! ;)

    cheers!

In addition to the 550 Maranello, I have a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche 5,3 V8 (the only one I have seen down in South of France, at least with Norwegian plates!). It has 425.000 kms. and still going strong. Here it is protected from salt and might survive a few more years. At home I have my XK8 convertible which I bought in Sacramento and drove to Miami and had it there for about four years before sending it over. I also have a 1987 Maserati Biturbo 2,5 injection Spyder on the way from the US pretty soon. Now looking for a Fiat 130 Coupe and possibly some more old cars.. This year I bought a 1978 Peugeot 504 Ti for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. I found it in Finland! It is the same type of car, year model and even color as what we had when I was a small kid. Rust free and a survivor with newly rebuild engine. Actually a very nice car to drive with independant suspention and disc brakes, and it seems quite robust too. It has a German Kügelfisher mechanical injection and 110 hp.!! I am amazed by the gas milage. At 90 kph. it use about 7 liters per 100 kms.! In 1978.. As a matter of fact, it is also designed by Pininfarina. You can see the same «bent angle» on the trunk as the Fiat 130 Coupe has on the hood. It was some kind of a design trademark back then by Pininfarina... So always lots of thing so maintain...
