Sorry, but I was a kid 30 years ago, and I made bongs out of lots of stuff but I didn't know anybody that dug up a grave to get a skull to make a bong out of.

He did it because he was bored?

Kids are the same everywhere and everywhen, but how they are treated is not the same. Thirty years ago kids didn't get handed everything by their parents, or at least not all of them. The ones who did ended up where this kid did.

I'm only bothering to make this post because I thnk a lot of parents on this site are in danger of doing wrong by their kids. You have money and you want your kids to have what you didn't. Wrong answer. Make them work for what they get, starting from the time they want anything. Give them an allowance, fine, but it should be small enough that they have to save up to do anything with it. Want to go to the movies? Save your allowance for a few weeks. An allowance shouldn't be enough to go to the movies every week.

That's not going to be a popular opinion, but there it is. They want more money, let them earn it. They won't like it now, but it's the best thing you'll ever do for them.

There are two houses next to mine that the parent's have bought to let there kids live in while they go to college. The two girls in the one house each have new SUV's purchased by their parents.

And at the nearby university they have old dorms and new dorms (I work in the housing department). The old dorms they cannot keep full. The new dorms have a long waiting list. Why? Because the parents are willing to pay the extra dough for their kids to live in the nice new dorms. So what is the school doing about it? Building some new 'luxury dorms' for all the freshman.

Hey a human skull can be hard to come by these days, whats the kid supposed to do :D

That kid has some serious issues for sure.

oh and regarding kids getting everything handed to them. It's all in how it's handled. A friend of mines parents bought him a house to live in during college. They also rented 3 of the other rooms to us, and we were super stoked on it. Was cheaper than dorm life and we had the money setup. Last I heard they since sold the house and make a couple hundread grand on it. What some view as being spoiled might just be wise money management.

As well if I have the means when the time comes I will have no issue buying him/her a nice car. But that is assuming they don't screw up at school etc. I would rather have been able to focus on school 100% than work a full time job.

Funny that he did it out of boredom. Yet he obviously spends so much time sitting on his a$$ smoking dope that he felt he needed the ultimate bong. I'm surprised he mustered up the effort to actually go through with that.

But is a car neccessary to be successful at school? I'm alittle confused on what you mean by having them work a full time job. If they need the job to pay for school, I can understand that. But if a parent (s) can buy a nice car for the kids, then the schooling costs (plus, the scholarships, financial aid, work study programs) should not be an issue. I am just confused on why the would need to work a full-time job when the full-time job is school.

This kid's an idiot. Everyone knows that when you break into a tomb and cut the head off a corpse, you should close the casket back up and make it look like nothing happened. He could have gotten away with it if he had used his head...

IMO the whacko claim is just to get a light sentence. He knew what he was up to and probably planned it for a while. I say throw the book at him and let him think about how stupid a plan it was for a long while.

Here's a pic of the finished product ;)

I agree with you totally, here in the Uk most kids (not mine) have Dvd players, playstations, tv's & computers in their bedrooms at very young ages, by the time they hit 13/14 they have had everything and then they are 'bored', near where I live they wander about in large groups just standing around on street corners talking until about 11 then go home, what a boring waste of life to me, the trouble is nowadays is most kids don't have hobbies to stimulate their minds for the better, Jmho

yeah i love how so many threads come up that get turned to 'kids today, sheesh' kinda things.

some 'kids of today' had smashed soda bottles at the bottom of a slippery dip, causing a 4 year old a week in hospital, about a dozen scars, over 50 stitches, and a fair bit of grief for a family... yeah this was me, 26 years ago. even as a 30 year old the biggest scar is still 5 inches long.

i'd rather kids-of-today 30 years ago were stealing heads for bongs than putting broken bottles in childrens playgrounds.
