I thought about one before I got my M5.

Pros: All Wheel drive, stunning build quality, much more reliable than people think, very agile, plenty of room. Also an awesome used car buy

Con's: Nobody knows what it is, finding the right mechanic for when you do need something.....not really much I can say as far as con's.....Oh and the 740i sport is a more sporty ride, but its close.

I really think they are great vehicles, the alcantra leather interior fitted to the S8 over the standard one is one of the finest I have ever seen.

They are gorgeous and Audis are great to drive...Only thing is, you will find yourself driving slow...not sure why. Its almost like you don't want to get to your destination. But when you stick it....guzzle guzzle Zoooooom

    Bingo.

Great car! Just hope it doesn't break. A set of plug wires from the dealer for my V8 Quattro was $1,127

One of my all-time fave uber sedans. I've been a passenger in one, but haven't driven it so I can't give that sort of impression, but from where I sat it was extremely impressive. I can't imagine maintenence costs being cheap, but at this price point I suppose it's to be expected. They just look like they're carved out of a solid billet of steel & granite though which is a good thing. :) Some nice big RS-6 wheels (assuming they fit; offset, et cetera) would really set the looks of it off just right IMO.

the ultimate stealth ride: nobody but you knows how fast and sweet it is......
pretty expensive maintenance (look for newer w/warranty; find good dealer & stick with them)
total feeling of security in all conditions....
very fast for a sedan; not as fast as 7's or 6series....
quality of materials & finish will spoil you.....
wife says it's "invisible to state patrol"......
we're going to trade '04 for '07 to stay in warranty forever....

    superb Q-car.
i beg to differ, but this car is MUCH faster(and easier to handle) than
a 750/740iL bimmer,it's grip and handling are nothing short of phenomenal
in ALL conditions.drove one in pouring rain,in fact my speed was only hampered
by my vision in those conditions.
    superbly crafted,unbelievably elegant and handsome.
only hitches are expensive(i.e s600 merc) maintanence and expertise
needed on body and chassis due to it's incredible spaceframe.
    in short:- GTi limo!

or maybe you could even call it "limousine by porsche".
incredibly this car is as quick as an m3 on real roads.
    here are some stats;
    0-62mph 5.4sec,Vmax 178mph(no limiter).
also, the spaceframe enables this car to weigh in at a superb 1760kg....
    that,my friends;is the weight of a 2005 S4 quattro....

The front brakes were called "friction rings". They are basically like two rotors with a caliper in the middle. TO do front brakes right costs less than converting the whole car to Porsche big reds..... :|
