Just wondering what everyone's feelings are on the S7, and how would you compare it to the Murcielago? Any first had experiences anyone wants to share? Thank you. Kyle
I like the car, its beautiful and aggressive looking and its performance is on par with others of its class. The only problem I have with it is the use of a Ford V8 engine, I know Im going to get ridiculed for saying that because its so modified that is not really truly a Ford engine anymore, but it sure started out as one. I guess I feel that a company thats been building cars as long as Saleen has should be able to make its own engines.
It is a well over-priced, McLaren F1 wannabe. I am not a fan of anything Salleen has ever produced. I would much rather have a Murcielago, and the left over money in my bank account.
Thats funny... cause the saleen TT performs better in every way except top speed (limited from gearing) I think its the best priced "super car" out... plus with a 1000hp option...
It gets the job done... No need to complicate things for no reason and like you said, its hardly a ford motor anymore... actually IIRC it has nothing in common with any ford motor
imo only two 3 colors look good one that car, black cherry red and tangerine orange, other then that........
personally not a fan... i think they are just trying to hard to make it the best car out there. i think its kinda ugly and its HUGE when you actually see it in person. im not saying i wouldnt drive one but i defiantely wouldnt buy one. -Thomas
I think it's very respectable car. Saleen came out with something that performs with the big boys, and now there is that 1000 HP option coming so that should make things even more interesting.
A fella in our group of enthusiasts has a Mercie Roadster and just bought the Saleen twin turbo. He says the Mercie is fast but the Saleen will pull your face off. I have seen it in the flesh next to an Enzo and it is pretty flashy. Too long at the rear for me. Tight cockpit.
Mr saleen claims itll destroy an Enzo on a race track yet he doesnt allow any magzines/autoshows to road test it against any other supercars because of this i have zero respect for the thing
I like it. The S7 was the last exotic I have seen that made me say "WOW" the first time I saw it. The power of the TT version really puts it up there. However I do feel it is a bit over priced. I'd rather get a used Diablo and save a few hundred grad. I like it much better than an Enzo, and cheeper to. I'm mixxed about the Ford engine, but then again the F1 is powered by BMW, so I guess it's no biggie.
im not a fan of BMW at all, but there's a world of difference between ford and BMW....a WORLD! and way it the back end so long for?? its only a v8, I'd understand a v12, but not 8. Plus, for those prices Id take a Zonda F :-D and I asume there is a reason saleen wont RACE it against other supercars for, cause its all hype and no go..if Im wrong prove it and Ill shut up
I like the S7, it is far from a McLaren F1 or an Enzo, but for an american supercar it is REALLY nice. Everything is functional and well done and the bodywork is a piece of art on that thing. As far as the engine, it is not a Ford engine AT ALL. It is a totally new engine with MINOR parts(like cylinder parts) borrowed from Ford. And as far as racing, it races in LeMans, so anyone saying "saleen is afraid to put the car against others" should look into the history of the S7R. Take it for what it is, an american supercar, on that level nothing beats it.
Where do people get that it is a ford motor? There are no ford parts in that motor. Custom made alloy block, forged crank, heads ect... All custom. Lets face it 750 HP is 750 HP.
It seems like a forgettable car, despite its amazing figures and what not. Not sure why, but its simply forgettable.
Forgetable how? lighter, more power, and more functional body then an enzo at 1/2 the price... seems like an american "underdog" that smacks everything in the face and says "screw you forign car nut swingers"
