Dom...........since you're a Toxicology expert.....I've heard a lot about Ricen lately............why is it so deadly, it's made from Castor beans right? I don't expect you to say "how it's made" ...but it seems fairly easy......a few people in the news have been busted making it. Is it dangerous to handle, can an average person make it, does it take a lot of knowhow, a real laboratory.....just general stuff............I've seen people getting arrested for it, and I'm wondering how they all make it themselves.
Product sourcing has been something I enjoy doing and wouldn't mind helping chat mambers with. You name it I will find it. Try to stump the pimp! I'll hook ya up! Out
Ricin acts mainly by blocking protein synthesis and leads to cell death. If ingested in sufficient amounts, ricin can cause severe gastroenteritis, GI hemorrhage, and hepatic, splenic, and renal necrosis. Death may occur secondary to circulatory collapse. However, toxicity via oral injection is limited due to absorption (it can be efficiently destroyed in the intestine). It is relatively easy to extract (requires knowledge of chromatography, so anyone with a Bachelors degree in biology or chemistry would be able to do it). This ease of extraction, and relatively wide availability makes it a potential biological WMD, which is why you hear about it so much. However, since it is not that toxic (relative to say, botulism toxin), it may be limited as a WMD. Hope this helps. Dom
