So Bardstown has recently become one of my favorite makers.

I think I might have mentioned before that their discovery series 3 is one of the top five bourbons I've ever tasted. I have looked everywhere and cannot find another bottle. :(

The DS 4 was also excellent ... in fact having tried several of their releases I cannot think of one I didn't like ... the DS 3 was something else tho.

Update. Cracked the Prisoner (not a euphemism but I may use it as one in the future). Hot diggity I'm happy I did.

Definitely Discovery #4, but with a good bit of fruit on the front end (blackberry and currants, probably more there but burn pits have ruined my chances of being a world champion taster :p) with hints lasting throughout, and just a touch of dark chocolate added to the already fantastic finish.

I may have to go back later this week as time allows to see if theres any left....

Taylor Tuesday begets a bottle kill. The small batch is a fantastic bottle when found under 50.

Barrel Proof and Single Barrel are always high on my list to acquire as well.

Had a "The Card Players" last night at Bresca: Woodinville Bourbon, 'Pineau de Charentes', Orgeat, Amaro Sibilla. And a single large rock with an ace of diamonds in the middle. :D

(it was also served on a coaster with a print of the painting for which it's named as well--they think of everything!!)

Congratulations, you have been selected by Total Soulsea for an uncomfortably lengthy hug. :)

More importantly, it’s racing bourbon time!

question to a newish bourbon guy. like many, I decided to get into bourbon during covid...it has been fun. I live in SoCal but also have a home in charlotte, NC. the issue I have in trying to get good and allocated bourbon may not be too unique. In SoCal, the prices are absurd. an example or two:
    blantons= $199
    weller 107 = $149-199
    weller full proof= $499 - 699

Now, on the other hand, I can get buffulo trace @ $25 and eagle rare @ $39 all day long.

In NC, it is a beverage control state and while prices are quite good, the availability if very sparse. buffulo trace is seldom if ever avail...likewise is the case for eagle rare or any weller bottles. I can get anything that no one really wants or collects but never have I gotten anything allocated.

    my best scores in NC:

    Kentucky owl 10 year batch 4= $199
Jack daniels single batch - barrel proof= $65

Now, my question to the group, are there any states that I should be shopping in where I can get msrp or close on allocated bourbons or the more rare collectable?

The hunt can be fun but frustrating as well. I appreciate guidance from the experts here. Thank you all.

Are you on Instagram? I know a guy in CA who regularly posts allocated/limited release stuff at or VERY close to (within 10-15 bucks usually) MSRP on his stories (usually at Total Wine or K&L) quite frequently, I'll happily pass his handle if you'd like to give him a follow. :)

Other than that, Ohio and Texas (mostly Houston, but Austin can be good hunting grounds too) tend to have good allocations.
