Outstanding haul!! I just learned we're about to get a shipment of Blue Run out here. Already got my main store holding a bottle for me in case it comes in while I'm in Kentucky.
I purchased this recently and wondered if anyone has tasted the 2020. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was out and about this afternoon when I ran across this bottle of Saint Cloud. Barrel name was Texas 1. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Been a fun day so far. Random Booker's red tag at a corner liquor store in Lexington, and a ridiculous story to boot. Image Unavailable, Please Login Hangin out at Doc's *BOURBON ROOM* (that's important in a sec) in Louisville (KY) and some dinguses (dingi? Not sure on the plural form) walk in and say "oh this is a BOURBON place?" Son. You're 15 minute's walk from a half dozen distilleries. Not vodka distilleries. Anywho. Had some great pours today. Those who don't he was a Navy SEAL KIA in Afghanistan. He was part of the team Marcus Luttrell was assigned to, immortalized in the book and movie Lone Survivor. His mom gave me one of his memorial coins. So tonight I had a dram of Elmer in his--and all our fallen brothers and sisters--honor. If it's not too late, and you wouldnt mind raising to them....this pleb would be very much obliged. We took care of our daughter & SIL’s pets while they went on a cruise. Brought this back for me and brought my wife a bottle of Balvenie 12 Triple Cask. Image Unavailable, Please Login
there was some gouging going on of course (it's maryland after all) so the EHT Barrel Proof & Warehouse C, and the Weller Single Barrel, were right out. EHT small batch i can *USUALLY* find with not too much difficulty in TX, and have one open with at least one backup (maybe two, I honestly forget at the moment). also it was overpriced (to me) for what it is, though I'm sure the fact it's there will make many people quite happy and I do hope they enjoy it in good health. Weller SR was the same as the EHT Small Batch to me; i'll grab a bottle if it's MSRP but it was just too high for what it is. That OWA though.....that came home with me. Yes it was above MSRP, but still cheaper than I've seen it fly off the shelves at much higher-traffic locations nearby in the past, but even throwing all that aside I *REALLY* do enjoy the OWA. SR is just too low a proof and loses some of the profile to my wholly ridiculous palate. But now that I have two bottles of OWA, I feel safe cracking one without a "special occasion" being needed to do so. So without further ado....it is Wednesday my sirs. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Staying at our lake house for a few days, stopped into a little local store, and came home with these. I’ve had the Heaven Hill but not the McKenna or the OF Statesman. Any recommendations for tonight’s beverage choice would be appreciated. I bought the Elijah Craig gift set that included a bottle of EC Syrup to make an Old Fashioned. I’ll try an Old Fashioned at some point, but not tonight. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
dang that's a great haul!! EC small batch is ALWAYS on the shelf at my place, no matter what else may or may not be there. Had a statesman, and need to grab another one. Love the HH BIB and the McKenna but they're hen's teeth round here. Next trip out of state I'm on the lookout for those, Fitz BIB, and of course Smoke Wagon uncuts.
Right after I buy one for me. (this one was definitely not at a "decent" price or it woulda been scooped in a heartbeat) But there's no horses. Nice score!!
Picked up this new 'entry level' Kentucky Owl release, if you can call $60 entry level. https://thewhiskeywash.com/whiskey-styles/bourbon/kentucky-owl-releases-the-wiseman-bourbon/ It's fine, nothing wrong with it, just nothing particularly good about it either especially for the price ... big fat meh from meh.
