And in response, a HH BIB old fashioned with chipotle cacao bitters and blackberries.

It's basically a fruit salad, so i'm having a healthy snack.

Great price. Hope you get a good bottle. I had one great bottle and two sucky ones. Got one in the cabinet I'm afraid to open.

One's going to a friend, the other's sticking around so we'll find out eventually. ;)

Worst case should make a decent OF or whiskey sour :D

    Ha, glad you're enjoying it.

I've been apprehensively and enviously watching this thread whilst in the midst of dry January. :(

I'm in a dryspell for buying; as we're moving in a few years I suspect (barring some rarities or unique picks here and there) I need to start thinning the herd if possible. I'm also working on narrowing down the "always want on hand" selection, maybe keeping it to 25-30 bottles or so. It's.....significantly worse than that at the moment :D

tons of vanilla and caramel on the nose, little cherry too. almond, caramel, cherry, brown sugar up front, nice warm finish with cinnamon and some nuts.

It's absolutely fantastic!! Hoping i can find more on our domestic adventures later this year (vegas in May for EDC again, a week in Yellowstone in June, New Orleans in November). But first, I'm focused solely on our Italian road trip in a few weeks. :D

I’m done buying for a little while, but I added these bottles today to the lake bar inventory.

We hit up our favorire spot in DC, Bresca, Saturday night to celebrate two berfdays at once. They seem to like us there for some reason. After dinner they generousy brought us up to the bar for a complimentary round. As we were waiting, Will (the drinks wizard) appeared with a purple top. My eyes lit up, he saw it, tossed me a lil splash. :D

Always a stellar experience if you're near DC.

No photo of the dram, but put up a glass of MWND (Act 8) for our boy Ollie tonight. Lost him yesterday, and there DEFINITELY won't be another like him ever. Massively affectionate toward people despite his grumpy (and occasionally sassy) appearance, and lived every day to the fullest as only a ferret can (snacks and naps galore).

    Thank you!

Yeah, he's definitely gonna be missed.

Luckily we have three other HUGE personalities in the ferret cage still, who absolutely bring joy every day. And of course there's the ridiculous cat, who makes sure we have snuggle time every morning before i get up to hit the gym. ;)

Definitely a sad time, but...a good reminder to always look at all the little stuff that brings a smile on the daily. Hoping you and everyone else here has a surplus of the latter, and a drought of the former. :)

I agree, I've found for the price, the Balvenie 12 is just right-- smooth and complex. The 15 yr casks can vary widely -- some are great and other too harsh and "alcohol-y"

Horse Soldier label blurb advises this is an effort by a group of ex-special forces to produce a special quality whiskey. They succeeded in my opinion. This is a wonderful dram. Has a marvelous nose, starts with nice vanilla on the tongue, a little bit of bite, not enough to hurt. Does need a bit of water/ice to tame the high alcohol/astringency but camps down nicely Real depth on the mouth & through the finish. One of the best bourbons I have tried in a while.
Has a snappy looking label also. The maker is one who wrote the true story for the film "12 Strong".

Tom's Town is a Kansas City offering that is a great, quality Bourbon. Lovely flavors, easy to offer to friends. Cool Bottle too.

    Apologies for the fuzzy pic.
