New riff is fantastic!! Have had a handful of single barrels from Jack Rose down in DC. Love the stuff, excellent grab especially at the orice point!!

Speaking of Jack Rose, had a friend come in from Nebraska for the week we did some whiskey related shenanigans around the District last night and today.

College buddy like bourbon, scotch, whiskey. I’m still learning.

I purchased this bottle in the UK back around 2002, my very first European trip. Grabbed it at the Duty Free for maybe 40 bucks.

Still learning. Fun to get spherical ice cubes for the drink…

Kind of my thoughts as well. I actually liked the Triple Mash better.

I’ve had a couple of single barrel store picks before. Thought it was very good especially considering the relatively young age of the bourbon.

Didn't snap a photo but a lil 1792 single barrel tonight.

Managed to find a 12-year at--while not standard "msrp"--a good price i was willing to pay, well under full secondary. These days I've started looking at the price of a bottle, dividing it by 13, and deciding if that's a price I'd pay for that pour in a bar or restaurant. This came in *WAY* under that threshold, so I grabbed it.

So that takes me up to a bonded, single barrel, full proof, 12 years, and full proof barrel pick from the 1792 lineup. Same shop has sweet wheat so I may head back in March (they usually tend to keep the wheat on the shelf, the rest cycle through) to grab one of those as well.

Weirdly I've not really gotten into the standard "small batch" from them. Just doesn't do it for me like the others. Really enjoy the other ones.

In the meantime i have a day off tomorrow, then two days of telework, then.....adventure time. More to come on that soon. ;)

Cheers to a new week, hope it's treating everyone well.

A lil Stagg Jr at stop number two. The striking Belgians finally got their whining heard (they werent striking for GOOD cause which I'm usually empathetic to...they were whining about who gets to drive the baggage cars) and the rest of our possessions appeared in our room sometime today while we were at the Duomo (climbed it!), Uffizi, Accademia, and Santa Croce. Tomorrow popping by Mannina to see if theres a shoe in stock I like. Then a quick lesson in how to drive a vespa for Mrs and off to Roma.
