Made a random stop by Spec’s yesterday afternoon and they had just received a delivery from BT, so I picked these up for MSRP. Called our son and he stopped by an hour later and picked up the last bottle of Blanton’s they had. They also had several 1.75L bottles of Weller and interestingly enough the 1.75L bottles of BT & Weller were priced the same.

I ended up paying 50 over retail which isn’t too bad. Definitely not a cheap bottle though

Picked up these three bottles on the way to the lakehouse. The Private Barrel has been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years. It was bottled in 6/21 and is a Rickhouse B 4th floor.

Thankfully a party would make the most sense. It’s getting out of hand.

Before leaving SD our main place had the 1.75L of BT so grabbed it. Don’t remember the price but not crazy. Seemed normal. It’s waiting for us.

No photo tonight, but I just finished off a lovely single-ounce pour (as i only have maybe 1.5 left in the bottle) of my Bardstown Prisoner (discovery 4 edition). Got it the same time I got my discovery 5 (have just under half that bottle left). what a fantastic pour. gonna miss it when it's done, but i've had some great conversations over it with friends.

A V12 comes from Italy. Whisky comes from Scotland :) Obviously, there are more good V12 engines and good whiskys.

But I stick to basics. (Why must there be, what feels like 7.654 different Gins?)
McCallan is a bit like the "Snap-On" of Whisky, but Craftsman Professional or Gedore works equally well.

Ardberg, Laphroaig, Blair Atholl, Talisker, and a few I cannot even spell, nor pronounce (when I am sober). One of my contacts operates a "whisky experience" in Scotland. I must visit...

Earlier this year I was able to snag a 1.75 of Weller and Buffalo Trace. The BT was $2 more which surprised me since I always thought Weller was considered a step above. Both taste great to me so I’m happy to have both at home for whenever I want some bourbon or to pour when I have company over.

My buddies and I stumble across “hard to find” whisky at our total wine every now and then but don’t think any of us have found Blanton’s recently

A friend picked this up for me as the small distillery didn’t do my preferred spirit, Tequila/Mezcal.
I of course won’t let it age too long in my cabinet.

Attended Premier Drams at Jack Rose and it definitely didn't disappoint....here's a very small smattering of available tastings. What a day.

(If I'm honest, the 5-year Barrell that is going to be introduced at the $60 price point this week, to my palate.....isn't even remotely worth it, especially when I can get Trace and Eagle Rare for under half that--it has little to no noticeable flavor profile; i think they may have proofed it down a little too far)

Just the barrel. The liquid moving in and out of the wood pores with temperature changes is what imparts the sugars and tannins into the distillate.
