Nobody is doing practice laps 'cos of the rain... Are this the best drivers in the world? One hour watching a few drops and people on the hills.....
If it rains like this tomorrow, are they gonna pull another INDY? Or are we goinna wait for the rain to stop?

No 12-cylinder engines, emasculated tracks, scared to drive in the rain...

    I can't take it anymore!

What is the race day forecast? If the race day forecast is dry, why waste one's engine on wet practice.

Forcast is rain all weekend. So I don't understand why they're not practising. Let's hope it keeps raining so maybe the Bridgestones will work this time and Ferrari might win on its own merrit.

    Ciao, Peter

Probably all down to the one engine rule: If you fly off the track, chances are your impact will damage the engine and you go back ten spots.

    Stupid rule.

At least I got a chance to watch Alonso do an installation lap and it looked scarry, there was so much water.

No sense in practicing in monsoon or near monsoon conditions when they're likely to stop the race in that case anyway.

As I understand it, conditions shortly after Liuzzi's accident were sufficiently bad that even if it'd been during the race, there would have been a safety car out. With that in mind, it doesn't matter how fast you can go, all you can do in those conditions is fall off and destroy your car - there's nothing to gain whatsoever. If there was, the third drivers would have been out.

Montoya has changed his engine before practice yet he didn't get penalized.
Fisichella on the other hand also did an engine change but IS penalized. What's up with that? Stupid rules...

This is down to the fact that he was due for a fresh engine this w/e and had not yet run with his new engine on track.

Alonso changed as well. It is because the cars came straight from Monza. Only Ferrari stopped by a the factory for the rebuild.

this really has been going on all year, how many Friday laps has Renault run this year compared to the other teams? These absurd rules actually discourage the teams from running. The fans pay good money for tickets and often travel long distance to see this circus, and don't even get that much! Damned contrivances! :X:X:X

Thanks, that makes sense (..) Where do you keep up with this info? AFAIK Pitpass.com doesn't keep track of the engines.

what makes anyone think the bridgestones will work any better in the wet than they do in the dry? the best shot we have is that we run early so perhaps it won't be too bad while ms & rb are out and then it can rain very hard for the top runners. but that it's raining at spa shouldn't be a suprise. sunshine at spa, now that's a suprise. best advise for watching the race at spa, neoprene undies. they get wet and keep you warm. you go to spa, you get wet.

Because traditionally B'stones have been best in the wet...but it has been a long time since there has been a rain race....so who knows now.

Practice sucked... how many hundred times did they replay Liuzzis crash? I guess it was the only action that day.

Tifosi is right, it comes down to the stupid engine rule. McLaren would be winning if it wasnt for that rule, and god knows Kimi deserves it. And in addition to all the other farces that came from the engine rule, now we can add a boring hour of TV and lots of POed fans due to teams (smartly) not wanting to trash an engine for no useful data.

    Good job Max!

We were sitting in the stands directly across from the GP2 pits for the second practice on Friday. They would have been all totally stupid to take the machinery out in the conditions which existed at the time of practice. The people in the fancy boxes driectly above the pits were taking pictures of us die-hards sitting the the torrential rain. This was our fouth trip to Spa and you are crazy if you don't take rain gear of one sort or another. Actually Friday had only a 40% chance of rair whereas Saturday and Sunday were predicted at 60% change. They made up for Friday practice on Saturday. Re engine change for JPM - it was before he ever got into the car - they detected discoloration on the engine where there shouldn't have been any and as a precaution, changed the engine.

    Typical Spa.....always rain . . .
