Bodys... Canon XTi, Canon 40D Lenses... 17-85IS with CPL, 70-200 soon: Sigma 18-125IS lens and 55-250IS "the sigma 18-125 will be a perfect walk around lens"
Nikon D50....whats a good lense for this camera...for all around use but with Zoom ability...I am still learning about it.
I'd probably say the 18-200 VR lens. It's a great walkaround lens and has a crazy zoom range. It's not the best for certain situations (low light, super crisp shots, etc), but it sounds like it would fit your needs. Sells for around $600-700. I have one, feel free to PM me if you have questions.
i use a canon 5d have a bunch of lenses but i mostly use the 70-200 2.8L. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I use the Nikon D2x (with S upgrade) and only use 2.8 lenses. (once I think about a 500mm it should be F4) for so results see http://www.vandeveldephotography.com
Nikon D80 here. Usually shoot with the kit lens. But I always keep my 50mm 1.8 with me. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm not sure if this is a repost, but here is all my gear. Canon 40D, Canon XTi with battery grip. 18-55IS, 17-85IS, 70-200IS. 18-55 and 70-200 i use with the 40D, and 17-85IS and 70-200 with the XTi.
I am debating at the moment about changing from the old Rebel 2000 over to the 40D. I have heard good about it from my neighbor who runs a photo studio out the house. Checked her website, and it seems to be very nice. If I buy it, I then have to buy a new computer, printer for the pics, battery grip, flash and so on. I already have 3 lenses for it. How do you like it so far? Anyone else that has one, I would appreciate some feedback. THANKS in advance.
The 40D is a great camera and i defently say get this camera, its very fast and very sharp almost with any lens. This camera is still pretty new its been out for a few+ months and now you can get a great deal on the internet.
I like mine so far, but haven't really used it extensively. The hundred-or-so pictures I've shot with it show a marked improvement over the RebelXT I upgraded from. It's much faster, performs much better in low-light conditions, feels sturdier, etc.. The only 2 shots with my 40D I have up for sharing at the moment are these: : minutes after sunset, 100ISO : half-an hour after sunset, 100ISO, 25 second exposure Compare those to another low-light photo (from my old XT), and you should be able to discern the improved quality of the 40D (same glass: EF 17-40 f/4L): : 100ISO No reason to get rid of your Rebel 2000. I have an Elan (the mid-range 35mm) I use for certain things (portraiture, mostly, but some landscapes as well). The Rebel 2000 has the EF mount, so your lenses will be compatible with the 40D. It's E-TTL, so your flash should be compatible with the 40D. Of course, no-go on the battery grip. Don't forget to add a decent memory card to the list (personally, I say nothing less than 8GB @ 150X). Also, I'd say forgo the printer unless you can reasonably afford a dye sub setup. I print my shots at Costco, and they look great (though once in a blue moon they screw up).
Great Sunset shots Marc ! Checked out your website - excellent photography ! Do you do this full time ? As an aside - what sizes does Costco print up to ? Cheers, Nick
I would like to get a good deal if I could. Especially since I hope to buy a Printer and a new Computer to go along with it. I will put the new Computer on the list before the Printer. Here is what I was planning on buying. Canon EOS 40D with 28-135IS Lens - $1500.00 Battery Grip - $250.00 Memory Cards - $??? Lens Hoods for 2 of the Lenses I already Have. $??? Lowpro Backpack - $??? Apple Laptop - $??? Only for use of Photos and Music Photoshop - $??? Canon Pixma PRO9000 Photo Printer - $500.00 Ink Cartriges for Printer - $100.00 + - Plus whatever else I have to buy. Beautiful Shots! Thanks for the info and the reminder about the Memory Card. Added to the list above. Also the Printer is a debate. The one I looked at was from Canon was at Best Buy. Priced around $500.00. Didn't print anything over I think 18x24. And would run around $100.00 for the ink to put into the darn thing. I have thought about Costco printing my pics again especially since I have been using a Professional Print shop for the last 3-4 years and spent big money on having them print my film photos. I had Costco print out all of my Italy trip photos from 2003. Then had them reprint a few of my best shots and a couple I thought looked good. They did do pretty well. The ones I thought looked okay turned out to be to grainy when printed out to 8X12. I also like the fact that you can request Full Frame printouts. I believe Costco can do up to 24x36. I have a printout that I picked up from mine , but can't seem to find it.
Currently have a Canon PowerShot A60 (Never use nowadays) and a Fuji FinePix S700. Freezingspeed is a very helpful website. The people there helped me decide what SLR to get. I am getting a D80 soon. No I am not rich, just selling off much of my rare model car collection (Mostly 1:64). Will update with some pics when I get it. Thanks
Thanks. Negative, it's just a hobby, but one I enjoy a great deal. I generally print 8X12, but have printed 12X18. As was mentioned, they'll go even bigger. Thanks. Memory Card: <$200. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134577 I guess you lose a degree of control when you have someone else print your shots, but I can't beat the price and convenience. If I were trying to sell prints, I'd certainly consider a high-end printer.
