I have both and rarely shoot film anymore. the resolution is almost on par with digital and the instant gratification is much better.

BTW it was hard to see you in that picture, the shirt and the wall paper are one and the same. :)

I have a 10D with over 1,000,000 actuations and (knock wood) no failure. Yes I'm aware that is well outside the life expectancy... it'll probably fail tomorrow now that I've posted this.
I also have a 30D - I'll have to look at the count on that one. Will probably upgrade in the near future and retire the 10D but I'm not really worried about the the expense of replacing the shutter. It's a tool and it gets a lot of hard use so some cost is expected. Canon is less than an hour from me and I've got the pro division manager's card in my briefcase!

Good god that's impressive! How did you manage to do it? If they can last that long I am not going to worry about my 7k actuation 40D for a really really really long time.

I just sold my 7k actuation 40D for a 5D Mark II. Never thought I would use it for the video, but I have to admit, it has gotten some use already. Now I need a video editing software.

Use my N90 underwater in a Subal housing and a D200 above the waves. Loved my 8008. Best little "beater" camera ZI EVER had.

Got to fix that disparity thou and go digital U/W too.

Birdman got a Nikon line suggestion?

I would love to go FF but between the money and losing the speed of the 40D, it just doesn't seem worth it, I love my 40D if only it were FF I would never need another camera again.

Depending on the film and sensor in question, the resolution may be better with digital.

    25ISO film? Not yet :p

I'm jealous. I played with one for quite a while last wknd at CES, shooting high ISO up into the shadowed ceiling. Noisy, but workable.

    I want.

    Panasonic Lumix LX-3.

I won't say that it compares to some of the great gear others here have, but if you're looking for a camera that fits easily in a pocket, offers manual controls, and has some cool options (10MP sensor, raw file output, 3 aspect ratios 16:9, 3:2, and 4:3, lens converters, an external flash and viewfinders) -- it is worth a look. Mine just came back from 3 weeks in the mountains and beaches in Thailand, and it not only held up very nicely, but also gave me plenty of things to play with as I took pictures in everything from caves to mangrove swamps to the ocean at noon.

Definitely a good camera, and hard to say 'no' to for $350. It's a very well-featured walk-around camera, easy to carry and yet very flexible. Plus, the real lens cap is a godsend.

I'll admit to being tempted by the Leica version - it is absolutely lovely - but I couldn't quite justify the extra $$ for proprietary .jpg processing.

Same here. I love being out in the open with nobody around, just you and your camera. I get more oppurtunities to shoot cars, but I enjoy landscape more. Similarly, I really love going out at night to photograph the skyscrapers and bridges. It is fun waiting 10 seconds to see what moved during your exposure :) Which is really the only reason why I prefer digital. I can deal with developing, though I don't do it and scanning, but when you are somewhere where you might never be again it is nice knowing you had good exposure etc.
    Thanks

Right there with ya on low light long exposures. I have a moonlit shot of a Bristlecone Pine tree that I gave a 10 minute exposure time. It turned out really cool.
Yes, digital is tempting because of being able to know what you got before developing. However, I still love shooting with film. :)
