Hi guys!! I'm from Spain and i'm going to visit my cousins in Atlanta in july. I'll be taking a plane from Madrid to Miami and another from Miami to Atlanta. Normally when you change planes you get like 2 or 3 hours of spare time. I've always wanted to visit Miami. I seems like miami international isn't in the outskirts of the city like most airports. Is there anything interesting to see near there or is it just full of neighbourhoods?? I could take a bus and go somewhere but i'm 17 years old, im going on my own i don't want to get lost haha. I just want to step out of the airport and wonder around a bit. By the way, i'm not looking to visit famous places or museums because i'm sure there's nothing of turist interest near the airpot but just being able to take a little walk around some streets would make me happy :)

Pd: i'm planning to visit miami in a few years time but i can't wait to see a little bit of it.

There's nothing to see near the airport. By the time you clear immigration and customs, claim and recheck your bags you've more than likely wasted the better part of 2 hours. If you can get a later flight to Atlanta then you could take a cab to south beach and see some sights but with just 3 hours I'd just stay at the airport.

South Beach is only a 20 minute cab ride away.

However, as the previous post mentioned, you'll spend most of your 2 to 3 hours just getting through customs & immigration.

Next time, plan for a longer stop over.

    Cheers

Iberia tends to be late and the Customs and Immigration checks are time consuming, to say the least.
The 2 or 3 hours between flights are just what you need to make it from one plane into the next.
Sorry, but that is the reality.

You don't want to take a bus anywhere in 95% of Miami. Slum doesn't even begin to describe it. Keep to the posh bits and you'll be fine. Otherwise, steer clear.

Quickest stop near the airport would be "catch of the day for some food" at least thats where I would go when I worked around there. Other than that everyone is about right theres not much you can do "around" the airport.

Not all may be a fan of the show or the characters, but this place is quite close to the airport.

I was in a few weeks before they opened, had an professional athletes Ferrari 599 (Will wouldn't say whos), a Benz getting a huge stereo system, plus a Gallardo, and the usual fare of Escalades, Jeeps, Dodge Chargers, etc.

I stayed in the Miami airport for two hours just people-watching. There is a vast assortment of interesting people going through there, not to mention the beautiful women.
